I know it is unrelated but the footage of the Replacements on SNL playing "Bastards of Young" is the greatest musical performance I've ever seen.

fear rules
i have this on video
lee ving is actually a very nice guy the time i spoke to him

I'm gonna download that the minute I get home from work. I have seen it, but not in years! I think its great that they got on SNL just because Belushi was a fan. Very cool!

Ive heard Lee Ving is a really nice guy. I also heard that he doesnt drink anymore. I worked at the same place as J.R. from Sam Black Church and years back SBC went on tour with FEAR. J.R. said that he Lee Ving would take him out to walk through the crowd because he was so big. People would constantly hand Lee beers and he would take them all and then give them to J.R. because he didnt want people to know he didnt drink anymore.

He was also great in the movie CLUE. Its so cool that he was in a semi-big movie!

who was he in clue?!

Discipline - 11-3-2005 at 12:57 PM

He was Mr. Body.

I've always wanted to see the SNL footage. Sweet!

classic stuff. it's awesome that a bunch of the dischord guys are in the pit too. lee's been in quite a few movies over years, he's a wicked villain in black moon rising

tireironsaint - 11-3-2005 at 04:29 PM

Yep, he's been in a ton of movies and quite a few appearances in different TV shows, such as an episode of Who's The Boss. Fear used to play in Austin quite a bit (Lee was living just outside of town at the time) and everytime I talked to him, he was very nice. I still remember being shocked by how small he was the first time I saw them play.

tireironsaint - 11-3-2005 at 04:34 PM

There's a listing of his movie roles at imdb.com

one of my old bands opened for fear a few years back in austin
we let them use out gear, as it was like a 1 off show, and they were all just amazing nice, and played an awesome set.
Lee also asked my shitty band to open their next tour, but our crappy drummer refused, and our guitar player had a new kid on the way....
fuck what could have been

I remember seeing that on SNL. I had no idea what was up. Now that I watch it again, you hear "New York SUCKS!!!!". I'm assuming the was Ian McKeye (sp?). There is a great write up in the book American Hardcore about that whole thing. Good times...

Discipline - 11-4-2005 at 12:45 PM

I looked for a Fear website. Looks like Lee's gonna re-release the whole Fear discography with bonus shit.

The video for that song is probably my favorite of all time, I haven't been able to track it down though.
