Jarrods Place - Attleboro, MA - R.I.P.

Not sure how many of you have ever been there. They only had a few hardcore shows, but it was a good place. I saw Biohazard & Clutch there. Murphys Law played there. Joey Belladonna from Anthrax played there a few times and a TON of other local and touring bands. The best thing about the place is they treated the local bands that played there very well and if the band worked at making the show succesfull he paid very well.

Anyway.... Heres his official release incase anyones interested....

Hello everyone,

This is Jarrod Ilkowitz owner of Jarrod?s Live Rock Venue. Jarrod?s has been a frequent hangout for many people in the Massachusetts, Rhode Island music scene for the past 9 years. Unfortunately Jarrod?s will be closing it?s doors on December 31st, 2005. Jarrod?s is looking to do a series of events starting December 15th through the 30th of this month. Jarrod?s would like it to be a time for everyone to have one last blast at the once hottest underground night spot in the area. Jarrod?s is seeking out and offering live music groups one last chance to play on it?s stage. If you are in a band that played Jarrod?s and would like to play one more time please contact me ASAP, keep in mind Jarrod?s is looking for bands that will really push this one last gig. Each show in the next few weeks will be considered a farewell show.

The below letter head is from the bottom of my heart.

Sincerely,
Jarrod Ilkowitz

Jarrod?s was established in 1997 as a sports bar & grill, a few months later it started to do local cover bands and tribute shows. In the year 1999 it was then turned into an 800 capacity Live Music venue. With major improvements to the facility Jarrod?s expanded and became a frequent National touring spot and a place to go see some of the best local original bands in the music scene. In 2004 some disturbing information was delivered to the venue. A plan to build 62 condominiums was in the works by a local developer and it would be built in the vicinity of the Jarrod?s venue. Jarrod?s retained legal council and kept it?s doors open for the past 12 months or so and finally had to make a decision to close. After many meetings with the buildings owner it became clear that the decision was final and they would not be renewing a long term lease for Jarrod?s. Many improvements were still in the progress of becoming completed but, the project stopped after finding out the bad news. I felt helpless. After exploring all of my options it was near impossible to build a new venue in the local or surrounding area for Jarrod?s. Taking a serious step back and realizing that the time at Jarrod?s would soon be a passing I had to make a decision to close. The final date of operation will be December 30th, 2005. I am asking all bands to get together one last time and help bring some people to the venue for it?s farewell month. Any band that would like to play should contact me ASAP. Please understand that this would be your final gig at Jarrod?s and should be treated as a special one. I would like to thank my wife Bethany, my parents and family, All the bands, WAAF, The Phoenix, The Sun Chronicle, All of it?s vendors, Employees and God for making a dream come true for a period of my life.

Love you all,

Jarrod Ilkowitz

I liked that place. Would have been better if it was all ages but we know how that goes... Even at the age of 25 I still like all ages shows because the c rowd seems to be more into the music and less worried about spilling their beer.
