jury duty

XHonusWagnerX - 12-7-2005 at 08:37 AM

Yup.... That's where I am now. I feel like I won the lottery. A minnimum of 2 days off from work WITH pay! Court is closer to my house than work & the hours are shorter. Its a no lose situation!!

Sounds good. I have never been asked to do jury duty.

No case yet. Just sittin in a lounge playing grand theft auto waiting to be called. I'll keep everyone posted if I get picked, but I doubt I will.

ive been called for it like 4 times and got out of it

Jury duty is way easier to get out of than getting picked for. All you have to do is tell them your partial to anything involved in the case and your goners. Course in Honus's case it sounds like it would benefit him to be picked so keep your answers politically correct and yes man em to death.

well I didnt get picked today, but I get to go back tomorrow. Actually no one got picked today and they let us leave at about 12:15pm. Not sure why but they didnt need a jury for anything today. I hope I get picked tomorrow!

In RI now they make you go for 2 days, but they said that until 3 years ago when they changed the system in RI you had to go and be there for at least 2 weeks! If you got on a jury your first day and the case lasted 3 days then you went back to the waiting room and waited to be called again or until your 3 weeks was up. Crazy..... wish I could miss that much work!

But don't they pay you total shit? Like minimum wage? Or do they actually match what you get at work?

Voodoobillyman - 12-7-2005 at 05:28 PM

I think becasue he's Union, he gets payed by his work for a normal work day. When Uncle Sam calls the workplace has to oblige and Unions make sure they take care of their people (in theory at least) Does the Jury duty pay you as well?

Work has to pay and cant hold the days off against you at all. Ill get a form that confirms that I was there for 2 days and Ill turn it in at work on Friday (assuming I dont get on a jury) and they will pay me for both days. I also get money from the court. They pay $15 per day and Ill get a check for the total ammount on my last day there.
