Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Best new (to you) band in '05?

BDx13 - 12-8-2005 at 12:13 AM

Not necessarily 'new' as in they formed in '05, but 'new' in that you heard them for the first time this year?

Easy.
1) THE BAD VIBES. - My year was better having had their music to listen to.

Also happily welcomed to the rotation in 2005 were:
2) Cult of Luna
3) Buried Inside
4) 16 Horsepower

I agree with Duane, The Bad Vibes top my list in a big way. I can't really think of another band I discovered this year that did much for me....maybe later.

Buried Inside - so good live and recorded

The Bad Vibes - ACTION packed live show, cds gets me all riled up

Enslaved - progressive black metal, but I like this cd more than their earlier albums

Push Comes To Shove - bystanders band, hopefully the hiatus ends at some point or another, the 4 songs are great.

LION OF JUDAH- new band this year. They put a great demo and an even better 7".

DIRECT CONTROL- They've been around for a few years, but I just heard them this year. Awesome early 80s style.

recent addition is The Bad Vibes. The cd Geoff gave me is getting some serious playtime. Awesome shit.

As for other bands, my memory sucks and I can't remember what Ive heard this year. Oh... Starkweather! They've been getting serious playtime too!
