Fuck, that's a great collection! Were those jackets ever for sale? The letterman type jackets, I mean. I always wanted one of those. Actually I would like to have a jacket like that even if it wasn't a Slapshot one, but that ups the cool factor for me quite a bit.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I do put a lot of time and effort into trying to track down pretty much anything that I dont already have. I have a few things on the way and I have to suck it up and order the new Thorp hoodie soon too.

The jackets were never sold. The one that I have is from the second time they made them. Either from around Sudden Death Overtime or 16 Valve Hate, Im not sure which. They have red letters outlined in white. There were 10 of these made. I know the band members got them (either 4 or 5), Skott Wade from Daltonic had one (recently sold it on ebay to someone in Canada), A former tour manager named Mosh from Germany has one and Im not sure who the others belonged to. The one I have was Mark McKays and he gave it to me as a gift about 5-6 years ago.

The first version of the jackets were the same style, but the letters on the back were only white. I think that there were only 5 of these, but I cant confirm that. If it is the case they belonged to the 4 band members and Hank the original road guy/driver (mentioned in the song STEP ON IT). I beleive that the jacket that Jordan wore on the back of the Step On It LP is still owned by his wife/widow (Jordan commited suicide many years ago) and the jacket that belonged to Steve Risteen was sold to someone in Europe. Steves has Coca-Cola embroidered on the front left breast where someones name would go. The others are jackets from this first run are most likely long gone.

Thanks again guys. Its nice to get compliments on something that I work really hard at. The rest of the Slapshot guys just tell me Im obesessed and mental, but I take that as a compliment! If anyone has anything that they want to part with that I might not have just let me know and Im sure we can work something out!

If I had to guess a dollar ammount... I would say that I have spent maybe $2000-$2500 but that would be going back about 17 years or so.

Ive been VERY lucky to get a good chunk of the stuff that I have for free or for really good prices. Ive actually had some people send me stuff for free (like Duane did) just because they say that it should be part of a collection as big as mine.

The biggest sums of money I have put out was $1000 for a big chunk of Slappy test presses, a DYS Wolfpac test press & 2 Some Kind of Hate test presses that I bought from Matt Pike. I paid more than I wanted to for the stuff, but thats where I got my Shaved for Battle test press.

I also bought a big chunk of stuff from Mark McKay for $300 awhile back.

Some of the big stuff that Ive gotten for free... The Varsity Jacket, bunch of the posters, and most of the newer merch. Doing all the artwork for free (with some help *thanks XnMeX) allows me to generally get at lease one of each item for free.

After thinking that through even if it is $2500 I dont think thats, to bad! I'm pretty sure I could turn the stuff around for more than that if I chose to, of course I wont, but its nice to know that even though Im totally obsessed I have made some worth while purchases!

All I know is that a couple of months ago there was a big reuinion dinner. The picture at the top of this thread is from that night. It was most of the people who played in/worked with Slapshot over the last 20 years. SO .... with all that said.... As far as I know the DVD is still being filmed, but at the very best it is in the editing process. I hope its out soon, but I know it will be quite delayed compared to when it was supose to come out.

Were you in the band at one point? If so, when and what did you play? If not, were you their uber fan and that's how you met them or how did you come to be part of the organization.

mine is, and I'm sure yours is too, one of the original 10. but mine has "Choke" embroidered on the right chest.

the story is....

I worked at the Newbury Comics warehouse around 1996 and I met Mark McKay. I had been a fan of Slapshot since about 1988 when I first got into hardcore. I became friends with Mark and then in 2003 when Slapshot was getting ready to head to Europe on the tour with BLOOD FOR BLOOD & THE BLUE BLOODS, they needed someone that knew how to set up gear, more stuff, tune guitars etc. Mark knew I had been in some bands and asked if I was interested in doing it. It was basicly a no brainer so I went to a practice & met the rest of the band. They all aproved and I basicly worked as road crew/stage manager for Euro tours in 2003 (with Blood for Blood & The Blue Bloods), 2004 (with Sick of it All, 7 Seconds, Unearth, Walls of Jericho & The Bones), 2005 (with Champion & Some Kind of Hate), 2008 (just Slapshot), 2008 (with Energy & All For Nothing). I was also at all the US shows usually moving stuff, setting stuff up & doing merch.

Awhile after the 2008 tour & the show at the 2008 Bosstones Hometown Throwdown Mike Bowser & Mark McKay decided hey were not going to play anymore. There was another tour being set up for summer 2009, but there was no guitar player & no drummer. The tour was suposed to be Slapshot, Stars & Stripes and Frigate. With Mark out of Slapshot Stars & Stripes was removed from the tour. Frigate is a punk band with Chris from Slapshot on guitar and John Bean (from Bitter) on drums. Chris asked if I was interested in playing guitar, but I wasnt confident enough in my playing so he said he would play guitar and I could play bass. Because he was already on the tour John Bean played drums.

I think the plan was for that to be the band, but unfortunantly it didnt work out and Chris wasnt 100% comfortable playing guitar and Choke prefered having Chris on bass so they started looking for a new guitar player. The current like up (which is writing and getting ready to record) is Chris Lauria on bass, Choke on vocals, John Bean on drums and Craig Silverman (from Only Living Witness and also from Mike Mahoneys project The Enemy Within).

Ahhhh awesome! I knew that Choke had one and that he had sold it to someone in Europe years ago but I didnt know who. The guys that run www.TeeTillDeath.com were trying to compile a blog entry about where all the Slapshot varsity jackets are and Chokes was one that I couldnt track down!

• Slapshot shirt: "classic mask/Take no Prisioners All Ages". Red shirt with classic mask as full front print. Back print is 'take no prisioners/all ages' with gun, but also says "Slapshot - july 31st the channel"

• Slapshot shirt: Longsleeve with chest print of a 1/2 skull 1/2 mask with
psychadelic swirl. Back has a large skull with crossed sticks filled in
with tribal design. Has sleeve print that says Slapshot. This was a Euro
tour shirt in the mid 1990's.

• Slapshot Jacket: Slapshot Varsity Jacket from the original batch done in 1987. These jackets were black wool with white leather sleeves and had white twill letters sewn on the back (SLAPSHOT BOSTON). They were originally owned by Mark McKay (last he knew Dale Rio had it), Steve Risteen (was sold to someone in Europe around 2006), Jordan Wood (owned by his widow Grace), Hank Pierce (still owned by Hank) and Jack 'Choke' Kelly (where abouts unknown)

That's a cool story. So how many records do Slapshot have out and when did they release their last one? Do they tour in the US or just play one-offs?

There hasnt been a US tour in at least 10 years, just a few one off shows. In the last 8 years they have played Florida, Maine, PA, Albany, Providence (2-3 times), Haverhill, and the 'Boston' area 3-4 times.

2004 (with Sick of it All, 7 Seconds, Unearth, Walls of Jericho & The Bones).

I was there,it was in sheffield,choke gave some guy a really funny vebal beating because he yelled out "your new album is shit".

I also recall the sercruity acting like dickheads and lou from soia going mental at them.

Thanks man. Theres still more stuff I need but it's been fun putting the collection together.
