Kings Of Nuthin?????

tireironsaint - 12-25-2005 at 06:17 PM

Why haven't I seen anything on this site yet about Kings Of Nuthin getting signed? I was just over on their website and it says that Thorp is releasing the US version of their new record in March. I fucking LOVE this band and it makes me so happy to know they're working with one of the best labels going now. Congratulations to Thorp for pickin' 'em up! I do have a question though, is there any particular reason that a band from the states would release their album in Europe 5 months before it gets released here? Aside from that small complaint, I'm so fuckin' amped to see that there's finally a new Kings record coming out! I heard the song Over The Counter Culture off the album and it's just as good, if not better, than anything else they've ever done.

For anyone not in the know, The Kings Of Nuthin play what sounds like Jump Blues strained through Punk Rock and Hard Core with a small side of Rockabilly/Psychobilly. Absolutely full-on as well, horn section, piano, stand up bass, the works.

It was pretty close to the same time, but it was officially on IScream Records and then licensed for the U.S. to Bridge 9. Stars and Stripes 'One Man Army' is out in Europe, but not the U.S. and its been out over there for probably a year.

Yeah, thats the jacket club I had mentioned, pretty cool dudes, they were started by some ex marine or something. I dont know if the band is after the club or vice versa or just happen stance? The club is Kings a' Nuthin.

Go to http://kingsofnuthin.com/ and let the first page load, you'll hear the first song on the new record. There's no other mp3s there, but they do have a promo video so you can see them in action (I'm still pissed I've never gotten to catch them play, yet another reason I was majorly pissed about Wasted getting canned).

As for the club, there's a little blurb on the website which says this... " If you ever see someone at a show wearing a leather jacket with a smoking skull and crown logo painted on the back with a banner reading "The Kings A' Nuthin' "they are NOT our street team. They never have been, and never will be. Years ago they graced us by giving us the use of their name with a "of" insted of their "A' ", for our R&R outfit. They are meerly our Friends and Constituents, but also their own seperate Brotherhood. If you wish to read more about them you can do so "HERE" But do yourself a favor and dont bother them by asking any stupid questions about the band, or they will probably hunt you down and kick all your teeth in." So it seems they don't really have anything to do with the band.

Anyway, great fuckin' band. When I first heard 'em it was just one track on one of Duane Peters' Old Skars And Upstarts compilations. I musta listened to that one song about a million times in the first week that I had that CD and then I set about hunting for more of their stuff. A few months later their album Fight Songs For Fuck Ups came out and proved to me that they weren't just a one song deal. Grab that album if you can, it's sooooo fuckin' good. I went nuts trying to track down Get Busy Livin', their first CD, after I heard they had something out before Fight Songs. I finally found it about a year ago when I was out in the Bay Area and was so fuckin' happy. That one's a good one too, but they definitely grew and came into their own after that came out. What I've heard and seen about this new album is very promising and I can't wait until March, so I ordered the European version yesterday. I'd love to see some merch come out (hint, hint Thorp!), as I've never been able to get ahold of so much as a sticker. The website always shows their stuff as sold out and I haven't seen it for sale anywhere else.

Oops, sorry Thorpster. I assumed it was no big secret since they had it on their website, hope I didn't cause you any trouble.
