CR83 - 1-5-2006 at 05:53 PM

You might find yourself mid morning, mid afternoon or two hours after dinner, getting hungry. Here are some ways to combat that hunger and do it the right way. Keep in mind to have a snack and wait 2 hours before eating a meal.

To make it easy, pick one food from A and one from B

Group A:

Protein
2 teaspoons reduced fat peanut butter
1 ounce almonds
3 slices low-sodium deli turkey breast
3 slices deli roast beef

Dairy
8 ounces low-fat yogurt
1 cup 1% milk or chocolate milk
3/4 cup low fat ice cream
1 1/2 slices fat free cheese
1 stick string cheese

Group B:

Fruit/Vegetable
1 ounce raisins
Raw Vegetables- celery, baby carrots, broccoli- unlimited portion
1 1/2 cup berries
4 ounces cantaloupe
1large orange
1 can (11.5 ounces) low sodium V8

Complex Carb
1 or 2 slices whole grain bread
1 bowl oatmeal or high-fiber cereal

that was really helpful!

I would also like to add...

the 100 calorie packs of baked oreos, chips ahoy and a few other things.
They are not "Healthy" but they do satisify a sweet tooth for the night and they are in small portions all ready to eat.
