Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

INTRODUCING SAILOR'S GRAVE RECORDS

BDx13 - 2-13-2006 at 06:49 PM

Welcome SAILOR'S GRAVE RECORDS to the mass of labels fighting for the territory of true punk rock 'n' roll.

SAILOR'S GRAVE RECORDS is founded by the folks who run THORP RECORDS. THORP RECORDS will now focus primarialy on hardcore, metal and all that is heavy, while SAILOR'S GRAVE RECORDS is a brand created to give birth to the soundtracks of life as lived by those with black eyes, bad luck, and bad tattoos.

Shunning the bubble-gum veneer of emo and pop punk, the crew of bands that have found a wayward home on the Sailor?s Grave Records roster carry a bad-ass swagger that the punks of yesteryear pioneered. Sailor?s Grave Records will be devoted to the genres of street punk, Oi!, psychobilly, and bad-ass American rock 'n' roll. Forthcoming in 2006 will be releases from the likes of U.S. Bombs, The Ducky Boys, Mad Sin, The Kings of Nuthin?, Bombshell Rocks, Angel City Outcasts, Mark Lind, The Welch Boys , The Generators, Far From Finished, Born to Lose, and many more.?

crazyfists28 - 2-13-2006 at 06:53 PM

tireironsaint - 2-13-2006 at 06:57 PM

This is the news I've been waiting for! What a great roster of bands, and they couldn't be in better hands.

Mute98 - 2-13-2006 at 06:58 PM

sweet! finally the generators are back on track!

Discipline - 2-13-2006 at 07:11 PM

Sounds fucking sweet to me.

defstarsteve - 2-13-2006 at 08:33 PM

awesome
funny thing is I know born to lose pretty well and can remember a time when they couldn't even play a note, it jsut shows what hard fucking work will do for a band

Voodoobillyman - 2-13-2006 at 08:34 PM

This is the best thing to happen to music in 2006 and beyond!!!!!!!!! I will be involved with this as much as a fat kid is with his favorite candy bar. Already the bands are enough to make the toughest man weep. KINGS OF NUTHIN

Voodoobillyman - 2-13-2006 at 08:52 PM

Alright, I just visited the sight and I am thoroughly impressed fellas, you have outdone yerselves. Consider it bookmarked and visited frequently, what a fuckin line up!!!!

thedog - 2-13-2006 at 09:04 PM

RomanticViolence - 2-13-2006 at 10:18 PM

That is so great :)

joemaconmovies - 2-13-2006 at 11:08 PM

i've been waiting for this since december.

RomanticViolence - 2-14-2006 at 12:38 AM

Is there going to be a message board on this site as well?

brooklyn - 2-14-2006 at 02:02 AM

Great! Well done Thorp lads!
Will we get all info of both labels through 1 channel - this msg board?

brooklyn - 2-14-2006 at 02:13 AM

Had a look through the site,... and hell yeah, it's very well done!!

jonnynewbreed - 2-14-2006 at 02:23 AM

I want in!!!

CR83 - 2-14-2006 at 03:06 AM

Sweet Lord this is good news. Now, is there a board over there too full of cool people and a handfull who try to lose weight every week? Ah fuck it. It has awesome bands and it's a "Sister Lable" of Thorp. Count me in.

CR83 - 2-14-2006 at 03:17 AM

Spoiler - 2-14-2006 at 08:21 AM

great job guys, thats one hell of a band lineup.I can't wait for Mark Lind's new album, the songs on his myspace page are great.

clevohardcore - 2-14-2006 at 09:02 AM

Sounds like a very smart decision.

Discipline - 2-14-2006 at 04:45 PM

I just Thorp sticks with hardcore and doesn't go too far into the whole metal thing.

crazyfists28 - 2-14-2006 at 06:15 PM

i guess its cool that they're separating the genre's into different sub labels like this, you'll know more about what you're getting from each this way, anything good for thorp is alright with me....

BDx13 - 2-15-2006 at 12:14 AM

thanks for all of the positive comments. this has had both andy and i locked down with work for the past several months. congratulations to him on a job well done and on the launch of his second business. and thanks to all of the bands and fans that are joining us from day one.

so what do you think of the site? comments would be appreciated. is it organized logically? were you able to find what you were looking for? any errors or problems? do you like the design?

and to answer an earlier question... yes, we will add messageboards to the site sometime in the near future.

Mute98 - 2-15-2006 at 02:44 AM

the site is lookin great! it isnt over the top but it isnt sloppily made either.. i had no problems with anything

oh yeah this has nothing to do with anything but is the New Breed still around?

Spoiler - 2-15-2006 at 08:40 AM

the only problem I can find is that JOE COFFEE & THE BAD VIBES aint on the label.

hint,hint.

Voodoobillyman - 2-15-2006 at 10:35 AM

The site is easy to browse through, and to me thats everything.

MyOwnWay - 2-16-2006 at 05:24 PM

This is great news and a huge congrats to you (Big D), Andym and the rest of Thorp. Its hard enough to keep one business afloat. Now you fellas have two going. I wish you nothing but success. I for one will support the label.

tireironsaint - 2-16-2006 at 11:04 PM

The site looks fuckin' great, I really like the layout and the color scheme as well as the general look of it. I did notice one tiny thing, Bombshell Rocks is misspelled on the drop down menu.

Voodoobillyman - 2-17-2006 at 09:06 AM

when can we expect label t-shirts?

THORP - 2-17-2006 at 09:27 AM

label tees coming real soon

Good eye, thanks.
I must have looked at this site for a week before one of our beta-testers pointed out that I had misspelled "Another" in the header. DUH!

GabeTexasGAMC - 2-17-2006 at 01:42 PM

im out to work, so i dont have time to check the site yet... but FUCK! great Idea!
I love the name too.

joemaconmovies - 2-17-2006 at 10:06 PM

I dont' wanan sound like an asshole or anything, but the Sailor's Grave logo looks kinda thrown together. It's not as professional looking as the Thorp logo. I have a friend who could probably make a sweet new logo if you're interested.

We all have opinions, but I don't agree on this one. Does it look a little rough? Yeah, but it looks like it should look rough. It fits the name as well as the type of label it's gonna be.

I guess. I'm not sure what "it looks like it should be rough" means though. The logo looks like it should be rough? Cause...that's the only version you've seen. I dunno. That's my opinion though. I don't hate the logo. It's only a suggestion if Andy's interested.

Like with music, sometimes crisp, clean production actually detracts from certain types of music. Same thing holds true in a visual sense.

Mute98 - 2-18-2006 at 12:33 AM

u guys should sign the Hudson Drags!

www.myspace.com/thehudsondrags

check them out!

BDx13 - 2-18-2006 at 12:42 AM

nah, the logo is meant to look like that. raw. punk. oldschool. think shipwrecked sailor scrawling on a rock.

I have sailed...........and I have seen, and this is the exact logo it should be, sometimes too much is....well, too much.

Voodoobillyman - 2-18-2006 at 12:54 AM

now hook up the t-shirts with the same punk shitty logo, it's perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Voodoobillyman - 2-18-2006 at 01:10 AM

Just ordered the new MAD SIN, can't wait.................more Psychobilly needs to be on this label. I love ya guys

joemaconmovies - 2-18-2006 at 01:46 AM

The Mad Sin disc is fucking sweet man. Just got it today. AND to clarify...I never called the logo shitty. I was just throwing a suggestion out there if it was needed. Never meant to piss on the logo at all. I don't hate it. I like it. Basically just trying to get my friend some sort of work or his work out there.

joemaconmovies - 2-18-2006 at 01:52 AM

Oh yah, I know people do the "bands to sign thing" so I'm gonna do it too. I think you should sign The Scars out of Boston. There's a link to their page on my website. Great band. Would go great with the Sailor's Grave sound.

tireironsaint - 2-18-2006 at 03:05 AM

OK, since everybody is on the "sign 'em up" kick, let me bring up a band I nominated for this a while back, Darkbuster. I know that when I said it before somebody said they only do shit on their own label, but Darkbuster recently posted on myspace about how they're actively looking for the right label to release their next record. These guys are blowin' up huge and seriously belong on Sailor's Grave.

i agree too

and the HUDSON DRAGS!

GabeTexasGAMC - 2-18-2006 at 02:37 PM

HUDSON FALCONS from NJ. some of the nicest dudes playing Rock N Roll today.

tireironsaint - 2-18-2006 at 03:16 PM

Hudson Falcons are fucking great! Anybody into them should check out Triple Deuce. They're a new(er) band started by Uncle Chris, formerly of the Hudson Falcons. They have former members of: electric frankenstein, headwound, the hudson falcons, polyabuse, and the vicious beatniks and they sound like amped up Rock 'N' Roll stuff not too far removed from the Devil Dogs.

Mute98 - 2-18-2006 at 11:13 PM

hudson falcons are cool, but what about the Hudson Drags?? haha from orange county

222 supported by def-star fully

Voodoobillyman - 2-19-2006 at 10:47 AM

More Psychobilly!!!!!!

Graveyard Rumblers
Deadnecks
Sasquatch and the sickabillys

All good, and all in need of a good label...............hmmm

joemaconmovies - 2-19-2006 at 11:55 AM

If SGR coudl get The Trouble to reunite and record a new album, I'd shit myself. No lie.

I mean the new record from The Trouble. The shitting.....not so much.

joemaconmovies - 2-19-2006 at 04:56 PM

I'd rather not shit myself either. But The Trouble...holy shit. Bring back one of Boston's finest. Bridge 9 was supposed to release some 2 disc collection of rarities and shit. I want it. Get in contact with Gibby. I'm sure you can find him through MakeOutClub.com (*shudder*).

tireironsaint - 2-19-2006 at 04:59 PM

Yeah, I'm still pissed (but not surprised) that B9 never came through on that promise. Fuck that label.

I'm still pissed the bastards (The Trouble) never did their reunion show. Assholes. Though...get them to record. There could be something. Maybe SGR should just take The Trouble rarities project over adn leave B9 hanging. Thorp already took Ramallah away.

And Slapshot. They were on that scenester label before they got wise and moved over to Thorp as well.

If I remember correctly, Blood for Blood was gonna do the new record with Bridge 9 originally as well, but alas, they went with the better label.

joemaconmovies - 2-20-2006 at 11:02 PM

It's natural to move from B9 to Thorp, I suppose.

To the person who didn't know The Trouble broke up, they broke up in like '99 or 2000.
