Well, what they do is find every possible number that the equation can calculate, and then they use the exact same symbol for each possible answer. Then everytime you try again, they just switch the symbol to a different one but they still use the same symbol for each possible correct answer.

In other words, the only possible answers to the given equation are 0, 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 51, 54, 63, 72, 81, and 95, so they just apply the same symbol to those numbers.

you're not much fun are you?, aren't there still a bunch of symbols for it to answer as? it's silly stuff but still really fun cuz it works....i now see that the symbols change each time so i can see how it'll never fail....but still loads of fun

yeah, it'll always be a mutliple of nine and the trick is changing the symbol. took me a few times through the first time i saw this. i agree with duane, gotta figure things like this out

same deal for me. It took me quite a few times to see that the symbols changed. Then after that it took me a while to relize the multiple of 9 thing, but then I figured it out. Killed the magic, but made me feel better to understand it.
