Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Non hardcore songs you think would rule if they were covered by hardcore bands...

XHonusWagnerX - 2-22-2006 at 02:28 PM

I really thing that 'No Such Thing' the John Mayer songs. Its the one with the chorus that goes...

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you've got to rise above

I think it would be SUCH a good hardcore song. It even has a breakdown in it!

I also think that a good hardcore version of "The Time Warp" from Rocky Horror Picture Show would be cool and maybe a hardcore version of "Vogue" by Madonna could be cool.

defstarsteve - 2-22-2006 at 04:20 PM

I have a fucking list as long as my arm....
but here is my shirt list

people are people by depeche mode
let's go crazy by prince
like a virign by madonna but can only be done in a slow blues jam early 90's rollins band

joemaconmovies - 2-22-2006 at 09:46 PM

Gotta love "Weird Al."

I'd love to hear some Beatles hardcored/punked up. I loved Ramallah's cover of A Day In The Life.

clevohardcore - 2-22-2006 at 10:10 PM

Michale McDonald - YA MO B THUR sung by MADBALL. It's a song about sticking close to your friends

John Mellancamp - Rain on the scarecrow sung by Earth Crisis. This would be a joke because the song is pro-farmer and in the video they shoot pigs with intervinus needles.

Murk - 2-23-2006 at 03:38 AM

Bob Seger - Takedown
Midnight Oil - Beds Are Burning
Rolling Stones - Paint It Black
Cinderella - Nobody's Fool
Cindy Lauper - Time After Time
Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight
Harry Chapin - Cat's In The Cradle
Cat Stevens - Wild World

^^^^^^^ I am not lying when I say I thought NOBODYS FOOL should be sung by a hardcore band. I thought the same fucking thing. That is soo damn weird. I guess this song IS ment to be hardcore. Good call on the Phil Collins song as well. That would really word if VOD or CANDIRIA did that.

Oh and The Rolling Stones PAINT IT BLACK was already redone by EARTH CRISIS on a album of covers they released a few years back.

upyerbum - 2-23-2006 at 07:53 AM

"The Streets of Laredo", GABE.
We're gonna do a cover of an old Marty Robbins tune called "Hangin' me Tonight". It shall rock.

(Hey Steve, Lords of the New Church did a pretty funny cover of "Like a Virgin", if you like Stiv Bators)

CR83 - 2-23-2006 at 10:05 AM

Great thread idea here. I'd say Youth Gone Wild by Skid Row.

GabeTexasGAMC - 2-23-2006 at 10:56 AM

we currently do... Bone Thugs, Fo The love of $$.
Ive always wanted to do "the streets of Laredo"
And FUCK! I now want to do Cinderellas Nobodys Fool and Lets go crazy by prince.
Both sound equally hard as fuck.

upyerbum - 2-23-2006 at 12:03 PM

There's a ton of Cheap Trick tunes that would make great covers as well.

upyerbum - 2-23-2006 at 12:05 PM

Do I smell a Thorp Records does your favourite "Golden Oldies" album.

clevohardcore - 2-23-2006 at 12:18 PM

NObodys Fool would make a great cover Gabe. Its got awsome parts and its emotional it a kick ass sort of way. Even the origianl is heavy. To make it heavier would be in the rhealm of all that is heaviest.

JawnDiablo - 2-23-2006 at 01:31 PM

moforn - 2-23-2006 at 06:48 PM

"streets of bakersfield" (buck owens/dwight yoakam) would make a pretty decent punk song.

That AND the Cinderella song are both awesome choices!

Spoiler - 2-23-2006 at 07:52 PM

Prayer for Cleansing done an amazing cover of "Salvation" by the Cranberries.
I'd like to hear some posi-core band do "The greatest love" (I think thats the name of it).....
"I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadow,if I fail, if I succeed,at least I'll live as I believe,no matter what they take from me,they can't take away my dignity"

I'd also like to hear a band like Murderer's Row do "Lost Highway" by Hank Sr.

CR83 - 2-24-2006 at 10:51 AM

Please someone in a band do these. Man, I wish I had talent.

XnMeX - 2-24-2006 at 02:04 PM

My fucking god, I was looking around myspace and stumbled onto someone profile that had a song that reminded me of this thread (but in a bad bad BAD way....)

Atreyu doing Bon Jovi "You give love a bad name"

Holy fucking shitstorm batman.

MPowers8 - 2-24-2006 at 02:09 PM

What about Coward of the County, Kenny Rogers....

Or Much too late.....by Julian Lennon

thedog - 2-24-2006 at 07:26 PM

I think there should be a Hardcore album of Johnny Cash covers.
