What do you eat before you hit the weights?

I'm trying to build mass...I was 170 and my goal is 220. Before I workout out, I eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Protein, calories, and carbs....just about everything I need. Besides, who doesn't like a PB&J sandwich? What about you guys?

One thing to avoid is eating white bread on your PBJ's. Try Whole wheat bread.

Before a workout, try getting a smoothie in you, is that possible? make it with fruit and whey protein about 45 minutes before you lift. If you have the means, take a pre-work out supplement like NO-Xplode 15 minutes before you lift. Immediately after lifting, whack down another smoothie. Keep your smoothies under 16 ounces as well.

To really bulk up, get at least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight every day. If you are 170 and looking to bulk up, try to get 200 grams.

Good luck and keep us posted Bud.

A shake before lifting would weird out my stomach, and I don't eat whole wheat. But my shit's been going well...I've gained 20lbs of muscle since October when I started at 170. And, I can guarantee (sp?) that I'm streroid-free. 'Roids are for the weak, the people who don't have it in them to do the real fuckin' work. My post-workout shake consists of one serving of Muscle Milk combined with a scoop of whey.
