An update dealing with The Pogues NYC shows. It looks like The Slackers will be opening on their Thursday and Saturday shows.

Also, Murphy's Law will be playing after The Pogues show on Friday at a place called The Continental in the lower east side. Murphy's Law are scheduled to go on at 12:30AM and apparently all the NYC Pogues shows are supposed to end around 11:30PM.

Murphy's Law 12:30

The Continental website

CONTINENTAL is located at:
25 Third Avenue (between St. Marks Place & 9th St.)
New York, NY 10003
(212) 529-6924

Keep in mind that club will be charging an inflated St Patrick's Day cover charge though. $35 per head, plus a substantial service charge if you get tickets through ticketweb.

DeathByForce - 3-14-2006 at 10:50 PM

The Slackers opening?? THAT'S INSANE!

BDx13 - 3-14-2006 at 11:20 PM

The Slackers and William Elliot Whitmore are opening on Saturday night. I'm not familiar. Is it worth going early to check them out?

Just reserved our hotel room. Boy did I splurge...but its not often that Mom & Dad get away, so it's worth it.

gavin - 3-15-2006 at 12:58 AM

William Elliot Whitmore RULES
for real
killer shit

BDx13 - 3-15-2006 at 01:34 AM

MBV - did you go down to the show at the borgata?

joemaconmovies - 3-15-2006 at 02:42 AM

I missed the Street Dogs cause I got there late. Got to the club just as the band started playing. They played the classics you'd expect. 2.5 hour set (around that time). Shane was drunk (obviously) and you couldn't understand what he was saying when talking but he knew all the words and was dead on. Great show. I left extremely pleased. The St. Patty's day show in New York should be spectacular.

BDx13 - 3-15-2006 at 02:57 AM

what did the merch options look like?

tireironsaint - 3-20-2006 at 02:54 AM

Damn, I knew I shoulda asked somebody to grab me some merch....

Dave - 3-20-2006 at 10:59 AM

fucking awesome show, i'll post some pics later once i unpack and find my old digital camera cables later, it was hard to get any good ones, they wouldnt let you use a flash{we were standing right at the guard rail.}

Dave - 3-20-2006 at 11:01 AM

and god damn it Duane, my phone died, it has a bad battery, so i don't know if you gave us a call after the show or not.:o

newbreedbrian - 3-20-2006 at 01:18 PM

alright, yes the show was incredible. and yes it was worth the 30 hours of driving. william elliot whitmore was fantastic, just the man and his tenor banjo. great stuff. the slackers were really good as well, definately better than the last time i saw them. pogues were flat out awesome. shane was of course uncomprehensible between songs but he was dead on with the vocals. a really good varied set, some songs from all the albums. gonna throw up some pics. i took alot but it was pretty difficult without a flash and being up front getting thrown around to get really good stuff.

william elliot whitmore

slackers

newbreedbrian - 3-20-2006 at 01:22 PM

newbreedbrian - 3-20-2006 at 01:24 PM

defstarsteve - 3-20-2006 at 02:13 PM

am I the only one who got the pint glasses

BDx13 - 3-20-2006 at 02:46 PM

i wanted some, but i wasn't waiting around afterwards to get my hands on 'em.

i really wanted one of those 'spew' shirts as well, but they didn't do xxl and they sold out of xl.

jonnynewbreed - 3-20-2006 at 02:59 PM

damn you all.

DeathByForce - 3-20-2006 at 03:42 PM

that zip up pogues hoodie is AMAZING.

BDx13 - 3-20-2006 at 03:50 PM

yeah, my wife got the zip up. and it's not even a hoodie, more like a track jacket, i guess.

the scarf is really impressive.

defstarsteve - 3-20-2006 at 04:01 PM

damn it I didn't see the scarf, we got the pint glasses half way thru
we promised we were leaving, and then went back in....

Dave - 3-20-2006 at 04:27 PM

fuck i didnt see the jacket i would have gotten that as well if i saw it, i got the boys from county hell shirt too :P

DeathByForce - 3-20-2006 at 04:39 PM

shit. i need that scarf.

Discipline - 3-20-2006 at 04:52 PM

That jacket is fucking sweet.

newbreedbrian - 3-20-2006 at 11:42 PM

i really wanted a scarf but they were $45. what did everyone else think of the opening bands?

BDx13 - 3-21-2006 at 12:19 AM

yeah, the merch was expensive, but what are ya gonna do? most likely a once in a lifetime event, right? i think our haul cost $120. that scarf is so worth it, though. top quality, think, and warm.

we missed the opening bands. too busy drinking whiskey.

BDx13 - 3-21-2006 at 12:34 AM

Somehow this wound up being an unusually celebrity-oriented weekend for us...

Got in to town much later than we planned on Saturday afternoon.
Had dinner with a friend at her bar in Brooklyn; met Gabby from Luscious Jackson.
Went to see The Pogues; saw Steve Buscemi.
Slept like a MF'er at the hotel Sunday morning; (literally) ran into Shaq in the elevator on the way out.

Meeting up with steve, dave OR brian would have been better, but interesting all the same.

newbreedbrian - 3-21-2006 at 12:44 AM

yea too bad we didn't get a chance to hook up, guess it wasn't in the cards. also missed the cheiftans as well as the wolfetones (arghh!!!).

BDx13 - 3-21-2006 at 12:47 AM

where were the chieftains playing?
steve, di dyou go to the murphy's law show on friday?

defstarsteve - 3-21-2006 at 01:07 AM

nah we were running late as well so we didn't have dinner till after the pogues so no time for Murphy's law, (I know lame)

odd you should mention seeing Steve Buscemi...
I am not into celeb stuff really but he is a hero of sorts, last time we were in the city for bad brains, we were getting on the train, and almost ran him over coming off...
Heather didn't really notice it was him, and I was like hey that's steve B and she was like no way
so he is half way down the platform and yells hey steve, and turns around for a sec...
it was like 2 am and few other people were around...
didn't really tlak to him, but hell it was still cool....
this time we saw jake phelps (editor of thrasher mag) just chillin as we were getting ready to leave the city
but he's a dipshit...
but now that I'm home I need a fucknig vacation

newbreedbrian - 3-21-2006 at 01:14 AM

cheiftans were at carnagie hall and wolfetones were at some bar i didn't know

Dave - 3-21-2006 at 12:04 PM

yeah we didnt plan out our other nights there very well at all, next time.

Dave - 3-21-2006 at 12:10 PM

fuck i just checked my camera and not one of my pics from the pogues turned out, stupid ass no flash using / old digital camera. i really should have brought my good one
