just took a buyout from GM for $70,000. He was there for 6 years. Hated it, but made good money. He's got a plan of going back to school for photgraphy, but would you take it? He usually made that kind of money yearly.

Hell ya, especially if I didn't like my job. And I would try to find a new job as soon as possible and bank that $70000.

I had no idea what I was voting on until I clicked no to read it. Yes I would take the $ and move on, theres more work out there and 70 Gs is a good chunk to start on.

thats a REALLY tough call, but I figure if they were trying to get rid of him for $70,000 then they wanted him gone. If he would have said no then they probably would have found a way to get rid of him without paying him the $70,000. That being said, I guess I would take the money and leave the job.

as long as you don't waste your idle time and find something new and hopefully something you enjoy then absolutely take the cash, even if you don't need it that bad. its an excuse to explore new options

if i wasnt happy and planned on leaving anyway
it would be an easy yes.

GM is restructuring and the UNION is offering the buyout depending on your senority. Its not personal its just what they have offered.
