The Return of ROLLINS BAND

BDx13 - 3-31-2006 at 12:01 PM

Henry Rollins has reunited his post-Black Flag musical endeavour The Rollins Band. The group formed in 1986 shortly after Black Flag disbanded and released a series of albums before going on a hiatus.

The lineup includes Rollins, original guitarist Chris Haskett, drummer Sim Cain and bassist Melvin Gibbs who joined the band in 1993.

Rollins had this to say about the status:
We have been practicing on and off for months now, slowly getting it together. Today I went in and they were playing Shame when I got there. Today I did Black and White, Volume 4, Civilized, Divine Object Of Hatred, Alien Blueprint, Disconnect. It was all I had time for before I had to sprint to the hotel.

So, we are back together and are planning on getting some shows in by August. Nothing is booked yet. We have contacted all the agents are seeing what?s available. It?s been really cool being back in the practice room with these guys after all these years. I had a meeting with Theo the other night in Amsterdam for about an hour after the show and he?s in 100%. I am looking forward to getting more practices happening.
The band's last official album was the 2002 live release The Only Way to Know for Sure.

good, that last shit he did was pretty much bullshit....
I'll just hire an entire band, since mine quit....

Chris H is one of most underrated guitar players

this is good hear. I hope that he put out a really good 'come back' record. I would still rather see a Black Flag tour though!

I have never been a fan of Rollins Bands. Just can't get into it.

ROLLINS BAND DO IT is easlily one of my top 10 albums of all time. I love that record. I have nothing else by them. I should check more out. I've seen them play many times from 1990 to 1995. Awsome live. I thought that when he hired that last backup band that was shitty. ANDREW, CHRIS, SIM would be the total original lineup.

yeah but he wanted to kill andrew so don't look for that to happen

DO IT is an amazing record!

I have most of the Rollins Band cd's and like the majority of the stuff. It's no Black Flag, but it least they don't try to be. He actually put out a couple of good records with Mother Superior backing him up. They were tight and did a hell of a job on the Rise Above benefit cd.

To me, End Of Silence will be hard to beat.

I was fourteen when I first heard gun in mouth blues and it scared the shit out of me and excited me at the same time. After that I read his books and have loved his stuff ever since. Then I saw this political spoken word of his the other night and he seemed kind of childish. Seemed like he was trying to hard. I'd really like to see Rollins Band with the weight album lineup.

I got the 3 volumes he wrote "black coffee blues" and "do I come here often" and the other one. I also got that ON THE ROAD book with Black flag. Very good reads.
