Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

DKM- Question

CR83 - 4-3-2006 at 11:51 AM

OK, I saw DKM as they came thorugh St. Louis a few weeks ago and have been listening to them steadily. It's a nice change. OK, Al Barr (Brusiers fame I believe), was he in the original line up of DKM? Then it seems that a new singer came in for a bit and now Al is back? Also, my cousin from Boston was telling me this info over the weekend as well.

Can anyone exlpain this all to me?

Thanks everyone!

Al wasn't the OG singer. I can't think of the first singers name is(Mike something), but he sang on everything up to "Do Or Die". Al came in on "The Gangs All Here" and has been the singer since.

Ah Ha! Thank you very much. The first Gentleman seems to have a pretty unique accent. I wonder why the line up change? hhhhmmmmmm...

The original singer is now the singer of The Street Dogs.

Interesting tidbit.. the only original member is Ken.

The original drummer was actually Bill Close from the Freeze.

Hmm, I knew Ken was the only original member, but I thought Jeff Erna was the original drummer. I know he was credited as the drummer on the split with the Ducky Boys, which I believe is the first release. Was Bill Close in the band before they recorded anything or something?

On a side note, what's the deal with Jeff Erna? He started off with The Murphys, disappeared when they got big, started Street Dogs with Mike McColgan and dropped out of that when they started blowing up. Now I hear he has a new band. Does he have some issue with touring or what? Anybody know?

DeathByForce - 4-3-2006 at 06:43 PM

Jeff came after Close. And yeah, Close was out before they officially recorded anything.

Jeff has problems with touring because he has a full time job and a family to support. So he can't afford to take the time off of work. He's currently in The Good Fight with Mike McColgan's brother though.

The Good Fight are a good band. Mike's bro sings a lot like Mike and I've been told that it's like seeing a mini-Mike on stage. I haven't seen them yet. I wish The Welch Boys cd release party wasn't canceled so I could have seen them.
