Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

My 'I Hate Emo' shirt rules.

BDx13 - 4-6-2006 at 12:12 PM

...thanks, Joel.

If you haven't already, go buy one of these from our pal, Juice. I got two... a XXL for me and M for my pal Fred (who happens to play guitar for an awfully popular band that many would consider Emo).

DeathByForce - 4-6-2006 at 12:13 PM

Don't even tell me it's that same Fred...

crazy.

seems like a stand up dude. not my music though. whatever. that's awesome, i'd love to see him wear that.

BDx13 - 4-6-2006 at 02:47 PM

Fred's a great guy and one hell of a musician. I've known him since high school. That dude's got so much music inside of him that he started and toured with another band while his main band was on break for the winter holidays. I really admire his dedication. I don't know if we'll ever see him wearing Juice's shirt in public, though!

DeathByForce - 4-6-2006 at 02:49 PM

Well now that they're signed to Sony(?).. I doubt he'd wear that shirt as to not bring any negativity to the band. Hell, if he did.. Juice might get an influx of sales!

defstarsteve - 4-6-2006 at 02:50 PM

what band is it...
sorry I'm out of the emo loop

clevohardcore - 4-6-2006 at 03:17 PM

I'm sure he'd wear it. It would be a statement. I know I would if I was in his shoes. People get a kick out of it.

DeathByForce - 4-6-2006 at 03:22 PM

haha.. I feel like a retard for knowing that! shit..

Discipline - 4-6-2006 at 03:22 PM

I don't know what else this Fred person has done but Taking Back Sunday is fucking shit. Gayer than a bag of dicks as the saying goes.

defstarsteve - 4-6-2006 at 03:31 PM

ah never listened to them but I know the kids like them....

to be honest if I could sell out and pay for my lifestyle by playing music
fucking sign me up....
you can play crap and still not like it...

honestly how many of us get up everyday and do shit jobs we hate, and get paid shit for it as well....

we it would be get up do a few hours of shit work and get paid....
please someone do me a favor and find me a paying gig...

In college, Fred was part of a band named Brody. After that, he was the lead singer and guitarist for Breaking Pangaea, a band from Philadelphia that was born January 2000. According to Fred, it could be classified as "super rocked out melodic soulful punk." Members included Fred, drummer Will Noon, and bassist Clint Stelfox. They were taken on by Florida label Undecided Records, and produced EP Take Apart the Words and full-length CD A Cannon to a Whisper. Breaking Pangaea's current incarnation, without Fred and Will, is with Equal Vision Records.

Fred joined Taking Back Sunday in 2003, replacing original guitarist/singer John Nolan after Nolan left the band to pursue other musical interests in Straylight Run.

JUICE MAYNE MSHC - 4-6-2006 at 03:39 PM

hopefully he'll wear it on TRL and me and Steve from DefStar (who prints the shirts) can get paid hard.

RomanticViolence - 4-6-2006 at 03:41 PM

I sent my money off to joel on monday. :)

BDx13 - 4-6-2006 at 03:47 PM

...and before that he was in a band called Stickman that used to play around the Philadelphia area in the early 90s. I'm pretty sure they played with Edgewise a few times. Fred's goal has always been to make a living playing music. With a wife and two kids at home, TBS has been a tremendous opportunity for him - one that has allowed him to live the life he's always wanted.

Although, Death, is there is a current incarnation of BP without Fred and Will?

DeathByForce - 4-6-2006 at 03:55 PM

Hmm.. now that I looked, I don't think there is.

Looks like they've done one show since Fred left for TBS and have been inactive since. Will also went on to play in Straylight Run. Weird how they all sorta inevitably hooked up.

pull some strings and make this happen
I'm getting old and tired and need a nice payoff

BDx13 - 4-6-2006 at 04:03 PM

i just mailed the shirt to his house yesterday. unfortunately, they're on the road right now, but i might catch up with him when they're back in PA later this month.

XnMeX - 4-6-2006 at 04:21 PM

I could see him wearing it. To make a gay comparison, it's like the patches Limp Bizkit made bake in the day. It was LIMP BIZKIT in a corcle, with a slash thru it. So, the fans bought it since they made it as a joke, and the people that hated them bought it as well thinking it was an anti limp patch.

JUICE MAYNE MSHC - 4-6-2006 at 04:48 PM

yeah man...I made cuz I really do hate emo kids but fuck it...let's turn it into a joke cuz lots of money for me is no friggin joke

XnMeX - 4-6-2006 at 10:25 PM

I need one of these in 6xl. I can send a shirt in of my own if need be. Either Joel or Steve, hit me up and let me know if it is possible and how much it would run me after sending in a 6xl.

if Steve will print it for you, just pay him for it. I'm not sure that he has the screens laying around though. I'm sure he could do it when I re-order

defstarsteve - 4-7-2006 at 12:27 AM

send me the shirt and pay the man for his design
