Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

what band brought you to Thorp originally?

Voodoobillyman - 4-6-2006 at 01:23 PM

I discovered North Side Kings first album on this label about 3 years ago or so in a used bin and thought it looked interesting, so for 8 bux I picked it up. I liked it so/so and thought the labels logo was cool looking (the old anchor logo) I actually emailed Andy before there was even a board about a label t-shirt with the old logo on it. He replied like the true gentleman he is and told me he was working on t-shirts. Well when the logo changed I was a bit dissapointed, although cool, I much preferred the older one. Of course I still bought the anchor logo shirt now offered and wear it to PT at least once a week. Everyone wonders where I got this cool ass Navy shirt theyve never seen in the exchange. Anyhow NSK was my first Thorp band experience which eventually led me to the boards today. How about you?

well as cheesy as this is, it was Slapshot for me. I was aware of the label, but didnt know that much about it until the Tear it Down record was getting ready to come out.

EDIT: Actually I got BFB Serenity before Tear it Down, but I had still heard about the label through Slapshot and actually got my copy of Serenity from Mark McKay

crime pays brought me here
not a thorp band but a thorp family band
you can thank the saint for me being here

I was aware of the label, and owned some of the c.d.'s but it was hanging out with him that brought me here

BLOOD FOR BLOOD

DeathByForce - 4-6-2006 at 02:45 PM

Yeah, it was Serenity for me as well.

Discipline - 4-6-2006 at 03:10 PM

Madball or Blood For Blood. Whichever came out first, I can't remember.

clevohardcore - 4-6-2006 at 03:14 PM

BFB Serenity

Voodoobillyman - 4-6-2006 at 03:20 PM

They hadn't released Serenity yet though. So while i waited i started checking out other bands like North side kings.
So the first CD's i bought from throp was North side kings and the nanchez shakers.

No band in particular. Been friends with Andrew for 17 years now. So I'm hear to support him even though he hates me now because I never call him back. Sorry buddy!

crazyfists28 - 4-6-2006 at 06:14 PM

definitely blood for blood, but its been all good since, this is a great label

tireironsaint - 4-6-2006 at 06:21 PM

I think we've done this thread a time or two before, but it was Awkward Thought followed closely by NSK. And yeah, I've talked up this label and board to quite a few people, Steve is just the only one who stuck around.

Same here. Back before Serenity, downloading what was then known as "Hardcore 101" from BFB ;)

The Madball EP turned me onto Thorp as a label generally, then BFB, and Punishment. Ramallah too. So far I've liked everything I've heard I've really liked. I'll be making a great deal of purchases from Thorp in the near future.

Looking forward to getting the Knuckledust, Rykers, NSK etc etc CDs... as well as getting SGR stuff too.

XHonusWagnerX - 4-6-2006 at 08:04 PM

Hmm.... I keep changing my answer! I bought the Madball NYHC ep and I think that was before Serenity came out so I might have to change my answer from Slapshot to BFB to Madball.

JawnDiablo - 4-6-2006 at 08:34 PM

thedog - 4-7-2006 at 12:36 AM

The Young and the Useless. I had been talking with the drummer for a while through lambgoat, and he told me about these boards so I checked it out and have been here to different degrees ever since.
