Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Favourite arcade game of all time

beaner - 4-12-2006 at 12:45 PM

...or favourite computer/console game.

mine would be 'Splatterhouse'. A side scrolling beat 'em up (but more like a slash 'em up because of all the blood and violence).

Those of you who can remember it would know that this game was seriously hardcore. from the character you controlled (who looked like jason from fri 13th with ice hockey mask and boiler suit) to the severed heads spinning round an up-turned cross in a church?!?!? it was just awesome.
one of the best bits was when you rescued your girlfriend (as the plot of all early games was) a demon ripped through her skin and was the end of level baddy! too cool and still gets played today because you all know about the mame thingy for pc.

i spent alota cash down the arcade for this when i was a kid nearly seventeen years ago.

in the arcade i used to just go apeshit for street fighter 2, then it escalated to champion edition, and so on, but i was way better at that than mortal kombat or any others

DaveMoral - 4-12-2006 at 08:36 PM

nMe, I'm with you on X-Men and TMNT(the first one, the time travel one was kind of gay). That or Bad Dudes, which was also ported to NES and I played the shit out of that.

Hands down my favorite NES game was Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden 2... I was unbelievably stoked with Tecmo resurrected the franchise for Xbox and made one of the most kick ass ninja games ever... AND made the NES trilogy unlockable. Also, T & C Surf Designs game.

SNES, Star Wars trilogy... great shit. Side scrolling actioner, no flare.

Genesis- there wasn't a whole lot I was SUPER into with this one...

Apple computer- California Games... digital hackey sack, half pipe, BMX... dude... awesome.

I think my current favorite console game is Dynasty Warriors... I just like hacking up hundreds of dudes on a battlefield Chinese style.

My all-time favorite PC game is Star Wars: X-Wing.

I'm an SW nerd.

DaveMoral - 4-12-2006 at 10:46 PM

My first gen Xbox freezes on Morrowind... I won't be getting 360 for a long time... but I hear this Elder Scrolls is so tight...

beaner - 4-13-2006 at 04:08 AM

how about these for a couple of classics, metal slug for the arcade, gunstar hero's for the megadrive (genesis). DOOM on the pc (the mother of all first person shooters).

Man, it is like I'm reading a foreign language in here. I have no idea about any of this. Gotta love the Thorp Board for diversity.

Rampage ruled. I spent many hours playing that as a kid. I have it for playstation now.

Pinball rules. Every time I go anywhere that has a pinball machine I'm drawn to it and must play.

beaner - 4-13-2006 at 01:54 PM

yeah spy hunter was good. its just that i was shite at that game, couldn't play that for shit.

double dragon was also a reason for me spending a lotta time and cash down the arcade.

dragons lair

DaveMoral - 4-13-2006 at 07:48 PM

Wolfenstein 3D was the shiiiit.

My uncle game my dad a copy of it when we got our first computer... I spent so much time playing that game... the best was when you'd tear up Hitler with the gattling gun and his body would liquify...

sippers - 4-13-2006 at 08:14 PM

tony hawk pro skater when i got the demo i was glued to my ps1 like crack.if that game existed when i skated i think i would have never left the house.one of the most groundbreaking games of the last 10 yrs..the follow ups were good, but nothing will ever beat the feeling of playing the demo...i think it just needed a welcome to venice style or thrasher skate rock vol1-3 soundtrack that would've been epic..

Shinobi... great Sega ninja franchise.

After Burner was my shit at the arcade... especially because I was really into Top Gun when that thing was out... the arcade machine that you had to strap into and was like a cockpit that moved and shit... that was awesome!
