Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Tattoo Pics

Unbound - 12-16-2004 at 03:39 AM

Just for shits and giggle let's all post pics of our ink. Not sure if this has been done before, but sounds like fun! I'd love to see what all of the thorp message board regulars have done. Here are links to pics of mine. The Leatherface one is finished now but I don't have an updated pic just yet:

I also don't have a picture of my Michael Myers tattoo for some reason. If you couldn't guess, I like horror movies just a little bit!

The only photos I happen to have are of my left foot. I'll see about getting more soon.

I got this one in 2000 on the island of Moorea in French Polynesia by a guy named Chime. I'm not too into tribal, per se, but I am into tradition, and this guy is fucking traditional! He's known for being one of the main people who resurrected the old Polynesian style of tattooing. His address is "mountian side between the bays". What the fuck is that? The first time I went to meet him, he was tattooing some guy's back with the sticks, old school, two-man-job style. That looked downright excruciating. Oh, and he tattoos outside under a pavilion roof - there were lizards crawling everywhere!

He doesn't really speak English, but fortunately, his wife does. I told her I wanted "something traditional that a Polynesian would get" with a big tiki face, and that he could do whatever else he wanted. All he asked was "how big?" and "should tiki's eyes be open or closed"? When he was done, he broke down all the symbolism and meaning of the designs. Good shit, and one hell of an experience.

Traditional!

yeah, yeah, thanks a lot, buddy! that and "you should get 'tastes great, less filling' down your arms" are the general public's most common comments.
