Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Punk/Hardcore bands on TV & Movies

XHonusWagnerX - 4-19-2006 at 09:44 PM

This is a topic Im sure has been done to death, but I just saw 2 new ones that I never saw this week.

I just saw a comercial for some new movie called "STICK IT" which I think is about a gymnastics team and one of the girls was wearing a Black Flag shirt... BUT the bars and the word FLAG were all colored in so it was a giant black rectangle that just said BLACK above it. Weird!

I was also watching Saved by the Bell on Monday and it was episode where Jessies brother (who is a thug) moves from NYC to Bayside. He decided he wanted her room so he took it over and he hung up a MISFITS poster and a MOTORHEAD poster.

PS. Yes we all know there is a BLOOD FOR BLOOD poster in the record store in 'High Fidelity' and we know that there is 2 seconds of a YOUTH OF TODAY song in 'The Girl Nextdoor'

BDx13 - 4-19-2006 at 10:21 PM

didn't know about the blood for blood poster. nice.

DaveMoral - 4-19-2006 at 10:34 PM

Dude, the record store in High Fidelity is literally covered with Victory Records posters and stickers. Everywhere.

Look around in School of Rock... there's sticker all over the place in there. I have no doubt a large part of that is Jack Black's doing... that dude likes just about everything. There's a part in SoR where the fat girl is talking to Black right before the battle of the bands audition and there's a Madball sticker behind her.

In Joe's Apartment when the camera is panning over NYC at the opening credits Madball is playing.

moron - 4-19-2006 at 10:43 PM

The only sticker I noticed in High Fidelity was Hatebreed. I think my sister still has that dvd otherwise I'd watch it now. That movie makes me want to collect more vinyl.

moforn - 4-19-2006 at 10:44 PM

In school of rock if you look at the blackboard for the history of rock there's mention of the replacements and dead kennedys, and I think maybe husker du and the buzzcocks.

XHonusWagnerX - 4-20-2006 at 06:23 AM

I think I saw a FUGAZI sticker in the apartment at the end of School of Rock. There are probably a lot of bands in that part too.

DaveMoral is right about "High Fidelity". In that movie it looks like Championship Vinyl is sponsored by Victory or something! Theres also an Integrity poster thats in clear view.

clevohardcore - 4-20-2006 at 08:39 AM

gleaming the cube had some good posters.

DaveMoral - 4-20-2006 at 06:43 PM

Gleaming the cube is an awesome movie... It's hilarious to me that Tony Hawk made his film debut as a skateboarding Pizza Hut delivery boy...

Top of my head:

Fishbone was a bar band in the movie "Tapeheads" starring Jon Cusack and Tim Robbins.

Of course, the Cro Mags did two songs in the movie "The Beat".

Agnostic Front is spray-painted on a bridge in the movie "The Big Easy".

defstarsteve - 4-20-2006 at 10:36 PM

fishbone was in some frankie and annette 80's beach movie as well

red hot chilli peppers were in thrashin, when they were still punkish

ENDERA.x - 4-20-2006 at 10:55 PM

i saw a movie with harrison ford, that one where he has to protect his family in his house... the chick has like, some punk posters in her room, like down by law and some other shit haha

DaveMoral - 4-21-2006 at 12:44 AM

The Bosstones are in Clueless... and of course, the obvious, Vandals in Suburbia.

XHonusWagnerX - 4-21-2006 at 05:22 AM

DI is in Suburbia too & TSOL I beleive.

I think that in Adventures in Babysitting, Canibal Corpse is playing in a bar or it might be Gwar.

upyerbum - 4-21-2006 at 09:24 AM

John Belushi refused to do the movie "Neighbors" unless Fear were in the soundtrack. Apparently, there is a scene in a kitchen and Fear are playing on the radio. I've never seen the movie so this pure hearsay. (Him and Lee Ving were buds)

newbreedbrian - 4-21-2006 at 10:41 AM

-degrassi was full of punk stuff because of spike and liz.
-thrashin' had fear and circle jerks
-repo man, buncha punk on the soundtrack plus circle jerks as the lounge band.
-punk episode of quincy was awesome
-lee ving on whos the boss plus a bunch of movies
-flea in a bunch of movies

upyerbum - 4-21-2006 at 11:13 AM

The punks on C.H.I.P.'s.

"I love pain, its a feeling in my brain."

Classic.

Corpse is in Ace Ventura Pet Detective... Carrey actually sings on "Hammer Smashed Face" in that one. Word is he's a fan.

DaveMoral - 4-21-2006 at 05:15 PM

Also... Suicidal Tendancies' "Institutionalized" is no RepoMan AND an episode of Miami Vice... that one I learned on VH1's "IceTV" featuring Ice T and smokin' hot bimbo wife CoCo.

Lucabrasi - 4-21-2006 at 05:23 PM

i was going through the channels one day and caught someone wearing a sick of it all shirt on a soup oprah, im not sure which one though.

moron - 4-21-2006 at 05:26 PM

clevohardcore - 4-23-2006 at 01:17 PM

Evan is now a producer/ actor in porn. Invested his money in that now.

crazyfists28 - 4-23-2006 at 04:34 PM

How many seasons was it?

Discipline - 4-24-2006 at 12:44 AM

6 seasons of greatness. One of the best shows ever.

tireironsaint - 4-24-2006 at 01:51 AM

OZ? Great? Really? I tried to watch it a few times and was bored outta my mind. I've never been able to make it through a whole episode. No clue what anybody ever saw in it.
