Even though the show sort of mocks the situation, it is a pretty stupid law. To say you can't run a certain type of business in the vicinity of a church- this is pretty ridiculous. I think the parlour owner has an arguement that the city is presenting an unfair obstacle to a legitimate business, and is engaging in some moralistic medling they don't really have the balls to be up-front about.

i totally agree wtih you, moforn. but that shit is still hilarious.

so here's another one for allayouz...
in nyc, a law was passed that stated strip clubs could not operate within 300 ft of a church or school. fair?

the also have to offer a certain percentage of 'family-oriented entertainment'. (so most have a restaurant and a gameroom or something. fair?

family oriented entertainment? like children's discounts for lap dances?

I say a church can't operate within a mile of a strip joint.
Now I'm not a Christian, in fact I don't even believe a man named Jesus ever existed, but if read the Gospels, Jesus ministered to people like prostitutes, thieves, the down-trodden basically. So really what this amounts to is community planning in the guise of religion. Isn't there something about the seperation of church and state somewhere in the American Constitution?
A brand new strip-joint just opened about 4 blocks from where I live, and the locals were putting up a big stink, it was on the news and in the papers. All they succeeded in doing was guarenteeing a packed house on opening night.
If you don't like it, move to the suburbs with the rest of the automatons I say.
