drugs

defstarsteve - 4-24-2006 at 12:49 AM

so while spending my day spreading ink today I reflected on some thoughts of drugs and what is being done to the working class...

first some quick questions

is there anyone on here who couldn't score anything within the hour just by picking up the phone?

I am not saying we are all drug dealers or move in those circles and shit, but for real we all know someone who is slingin something right...and they know someone else

do you think that situation is odd, with as much money has been poured into the war on drugs over the years and the police and prison complex...

how many people do you know who are on mood changing and perscription drugs either under a doctors care or other wise?

I try to not even take otc pain meds, (like advil and shit) but it seems everyone else is on some kind of meds just to get thru the day

the point of it all is Heather (my love) went to get a regular check up, the doctor did nothing (didn't even really look at her) but perscribed her some welbutron (sp?) for stress and shit, (even though she has no symptoms)...

so Heather started taking them, she used to do a lot of pot back in the day and did some pills but she said she had been feeling a little bad so she would try them to see the effect...

and she got insane, well not straight up crazy but her emotions went wacky and her anger went thru the roof...

so we talked about it and she quit taking them, and she is a lot more relaxed now...back to normal

anyhow the point of this is, what the fuck are we doing to ourselves...

everyone is either self medicating or it's being perscribed by some quack

our kids are all a.d.d. but can sit and watch hours of cartoons and video games, (how is that an attention disorder) so we pill them out with ritlian and shit so they mellow out and behave

and behave

do you think our entire society has been dulled
why is it there are no more revolutions in this country
and the anger that is present is so misdirected

why is it everything artistic out there is a remake/rehash of everything that has been said and done before

art, real art is about passion and emotion (not emo)
but it's being drug out of us, (ha ha)

Heather thought that taking the stuff would help her stay adjusted, but I explained to here that I think if she is pissed about something, well maybe she should be pissed

people who can't sit still and concentrate on mondane bullshit should be made to, by taking pills to change their brain chemistry?

maybe there is a reason their brain chemisty is different, maybe we are not all supposed to be the same

our kids are discouraged to daydream, the arts have been stripped from the school, and if they act up they stick them on more drugs...

are we all just zomies and do we need these meds to cope with how fucked things are in the world...

have we just become machines to do our jobs and the meds keep us in line....or do you think there is really a need

and do you think that someone like da vinci would have been drugged if he lived today,
were not the greatest artists all insane, and prone to violent mood swings, and depression

have we drugged the person who would have invented the next great fuel source, or created a cure for aids or cancer

and don't get me started on straight edge kdis
talk about misdirected anger...

discuss, or not

I've said it before, without anti-depressents I'd likely go insane. I have a really bad temper that often leads to violence. When I'm on the pills they slow me down enough to keep me calm and rational. The last time I was off them for a couple of months I had quite a few instances of violence, and I'm lucky I never got arrested.

but is being angry your fault and shuld you be made to feel that it's wrong to feel that way

or is it that you were never shown a way to direct that anger into something positive
hell amn youc ould have been a world class kickboxer or something, but instead you were told your anger is wrong and they put you on meds to better fit in....

but do we all need to fit it

I actually didn't start on the happy pills until 2 or 3 years ago. My temper just finally overcame me, and something had to be done before I killed somebody.

This is an issue that bothers the shit out of me Steve, and thank God you're bringing this shit up.

Without a doubt, if I were so inclined, I could easily score some ____ (fill in the blank) within an hour... on my block. Worse yet, I could make more money in a day just making deliveries for street corner pharmacists than I can plugging away at my trade 7 days a week. This shit really popped off in the early 70s when the government flooded ghettos with drugs to keep the black population from rising... when they realized it was spilling over into the white(upper class, that is) population they declared their "war on drugs." Still, the drug condition gets worse in working class/poor neighborhoods. Ever wonder why all the liquor adds you see are in working class 'hoods? They're keeping the people in a stupor to prevent us from rising up and taking back what's our's to begin with. Still they fleece the shit out of the poor and working class. Gas prices are always 10 to 20 cents higher in low income and inner city neighborhoods than in suburban middle to upper class neighborhoods. Keep enough of us medicated in "illegal" or legal ways and there won't be enough homegrown "terrorists" to overthrow the corrupt and bloated government beast.

I think that's what's ironic about the punk/hardcore subculture... most of us are just as medicated as anyone else... mostly self-medicated. Straight edge was obviously a response to that, but most straight edgers are retards themselves. Minds numbed on video games and television... and just as self-righteous as the fucking neo-cons and right-wing Christians.

I'm at the point that I've lost all home of change in this country, or most of the world. I think it's going to come down to a bunch of us who aren't willing to put up with the bullshit going down in a blaze of glory, while the rest march on content with what they're allowed... until the whole thing becomes to heavy and collaspes under its own weight.

This is what I'm going through right now, but I am on some pills. Guess they are not the right ones yet.

I had to try a few different ones before I found the right ones for me. Give it time. Whatever you do, don't stop taking them cold turkey. If you don't ween yourself off them it'll really fuck you up.

If you are not clinically depressed you should not be on anti-depressants. Thats when you go wacky, its like Steve said, if you're pissed, maybe you should be. I read a crazy statistic from the early nineties, and I can't remember the exact figure, but I know it was over 60%, of Americans are on some sort of prescribed psychotropic drug, I would imagine Canada runs somewhere in that realm as well. Thats more than half the people you interact with everyday. Psychiatry is a pseudo-science as much as I hate to agree with Tom Cruise.:(
