My digital camera was stolen but...

"ODD" story ahead, and will be continued...

Ok, I can't believe I didn't post about this here. A few week ago (probably almost a month ago) my digital camera was stolen. Me and my GF were out and about and we think it got stolen either when we went in Staples, or Market Basket. We filed a report with the towns police and called pawn shops every few days looking for Kodak cameras (not telling them exactly what we were calling for because like hell they would tell us if they have our STOLEN property). Well, we did that, got NOWHERE. Started actually looking around for a new cam. The camera I had was a decent Kodak. Nothing pricey, 3.2mp cam (was $126.00 brand new when I bought it a few years ago). So, it's not like it was an expensive item, but for us, it was ours and $100 isn't chump change to us really.

And at this point is where we lose hope of ever seeing it again...

(jump ahead about 3 weeks)
Well, my friends band (the one I do the Minor Threat cover for) posted a bulletin on myspace asking if anyone took pictures of them at the previous night show. I messaged them back just to shoot the shit and mentioned "I would have taken pictures if my camera wasn't stolen"....

Few days later (yesterday), I get a message from my friend Kenny saying it totaly slipped his mind till I sent this message and reminded him. Said he knows who has my camera. Told me his friends boyfriend found it, and he was gonan get it back for me.

Well, I want my camera. Plain and simple. I thought this was insane that I am actually gonna get it back. I have been in contact with Kenny, Kenny has talked to the kid and they are supposed to drop it off at a local comic shop for me to pic it up at (we all know the owner so it's a good spot to do this). I gave an ultimatum since this is my damn camera and I want it back. Either it is at the comic shop at 5:00, or the cops are gonna get involved. My friend understands and will help me out if thats the case. I told him no names need to be involved if it is at the comic shop before 5:00, if it gets past 5:00, I want names...

Well, got a call about 1/2 hour ago after messaging Kenny telling him to get ahold of the kid and it went like this...
"Hello?"
"yeah, Eric?"
"What?"
"Is Eric there?"
"Who?"
"Is this Eric Miller?"
"No, This is Monty."
"Oh, shit. I dialed the wrong number from my phone"

So yeah, Kenny gave me the kids name on accident. LOL. I hung up the phone and laughed my ass off.

Well, it is 4:21, Kenny has even posted up a bulletin telling Eric Miller or his GF to get the camera to the comic shop by 5:00. We will see what happens...

Good luck! I hope you just get it back, but either way you should end up with it. So the kid stole it from you and his friend just told you??

Kick in the head. That's what you should give him.

Yeah, no need for cops there. Good old fashion street justice will suffice. Seriously...

I have contempt for nothing more than mother fuckers stealing shit from people who put their blood and sweat into earning the dollars used to purchase that shit.

Some fucking crackhead broke in my wife's car and stole nothing but a fucking discman out of the glove box... 60 dollar item doesn't seem that much unless you're broke and I was pissed. I wanted to hunt mother fuckers down and ask people in the hood. Good thing a friend talked me out of that... no one would say shit to me anyways.

I still haven't gotten it back. We now have a contact number for the BF and GF. My GF called the number all last ngith and left messages and never heard back, never got an answer. Called this morning and the mother picked up, was a crabby, bitch, but said her daughter is heading to dover and said the bf has it now, blah fucking blah, I want my god damn camera. So now, were STILL waiting. I don't want my fucking weekend ruined trying to track down my camera from some little kids. From what I know they are 16 and 17. fuck.

Goddamn kids. Hire some 16 year olds to beat them into the ground.

My guess, they're the type with shitty haircuts huh?

Good guess, you nailed that one on the head! I wish i had picks of them to show you to prove that point lol.

Well, it has been "resolved"...... not really.

Lori (My GF) typed out a blog describing the finally and since I don't feel like typing about this bullshit anymore, copy + paste comes in handy. So, here it is in the wonderfull words of my better half...

"OK. So we tracked down who had my stolen digital camera. I don't know who stole it, but I know who ended up with it somehow. I got her phone number, left several messages for her last nite, none of which she returned. So I call her about 8:30 this morning and her mom picks up and acts like the biggest cunt in the world to me. "My daughter doesn't know anybody named Kenny blah blah blah." Kenny is a marvelous friend that was nice enough to help us get our camera back because he knew who had it. About an hour later, her mom calls back and is really polite and courteous after being a total bitch. "We looked in her boyfriend's car and we can't seem to find it and that's the last place it was at. Oh I am so sorry, I want to offer you $40 as reimbursement because my daughter was the last person who had it." blah blah blah.

So we arranged to meet at the Library. Her mom offered me to search through the car of a MINOR that wasn't even her kid. I wasn't about to break the law and search someone's car that I never had permission to search. She would barely let her daughter speak, she would speak over her daughter every chance she got. Her daughter looked all of 16 years old. I wrote out a simple statement on a piece of paper that says, "I LORI GIBBONS RECIEVED $40 AS REIMBURSEMENT FOR MY LOST/STOLEN CAMERA FROM SARAH L*****." At first, just me and the daughter signed it. Her mother tried telling me that her daughter was 18, when she clearly didn't look it. If she is 18, then whatever. But from what me & Monty saw, she looked younger. So she seemed like a minor and when I told Mom to sign it, she rolled her eyes. I wasn't about to make an agreement with a potential Minor, because that isn't legal. It wouldn't stand up if I had to bring it to the court's attention later.

On the phone, her mom denied knowing anything about it. But in person, she seemed to be an expert on where my camera had been, who had it, who knew about it, etc. She was such a smug, lieing cunt. She offered me $40 for the camera for whatever crazy reason. She said she felt bad because her daughter tried doing something nice and then all this happened. I told her, "No. Don't ever stop doing nice things for people. That's not the point." This is all bullshit.

I told her that this piece of paper does NOT nigate the fact that my camera is still reported stolen, and will remain reported until I recover it. I also told her that if I find out that her daughter still has it (or who ever else may have it), I will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.

Awesome way to start my Saturday."

nice. Hopefully all will be fully resolved with the return of the camera ASAP. Stupid kids.
