Donations for relief.

I'm sending in a donation to the Canadian Red Cross, and if you're capable of doing one, a benifet show may be in order. This is a horrible tragidy that is just going to get worse as time goes on. I'm speaking of this indonisian tsunami for those of you who don't know.

Jonny - right on. Good move. This tragedu will hit 50.000 dead by the end of the year.
If it was in Europe or the US the world would stand still, now it seems to be "oh tragic...., let's move on".

Maybe Bush should find a link between Bin Laden and this tsunamis.

From the AP...

- Amid the devastation, however, were some miraculous stories of survival. In Malaysia, a 20-day-old baby was found alive on a floating mattress. She and her family were later reunited.

- A new danger emerged Tuesday: the floods uprooted land mines in Sri Lanka ? a nation torn by a decades-old war with Tamil separatists in the north. The mines now threatened aid workers and survivors, UNICEF said.

But, officials say, the average citizen is doing the bulk of the giving.

"We've never seen anything like this before," UNICEF spokeswoman Marissa Buckanoff said Tuesday. "In one day last week we received more online donations that we have received in all of 2003."

UNICEF has received more than $20 million in aid from U.S. citizens. The Red Cross is up to more than $79 million, and Oxfam is at $12 million.

The death toll around the Indian Ocean rim from the Dec. 26 earthquake and tsunamis approached 140,000 Tuesday.

Bush Personally Gives $10K in Tsunami Aid

BDx13 - 1-6-2005 at 02:21 AM

Full story here.

Ten grand. Ten grand is nice. Ten grand is definitely a lot of money. Thorp Records won't be able to send ten grand. But ten grand is a lot of money to Thorp Records. George W. Bush (never mind the rest of the Bush Empire) is worth millions. ...And he comes up with ten grand. Seriously, when I saw that headline on Yahoo, the first thing that crossed my mind was that he should have kept the amount he donated quiet. Better to have kept us guessing than to have left us appalled.

jonnynewbreed - 1-6-2005 at 10:25 AM

some hollywood actress donated 1,000,000 dollars to a charity and W only gives 10,000.
