Yeah, the M.I.A. discography is on Alternative Tentacles, I had no idea they were still involved in anything worthwhile. M.I.A. are more punk than
what is usually thought of as HC nowadays, but they were prime HC in my eyes. Some of their later stuff is on the slower melodic side, but the older
stuff reminds me a bit of early D.I. minus the jokes and with better writing and a bit more aggression. How can you not love a band with a song called
I Hate Hippies?
My little side note about Extreme Noise Terror, one of my old bands got to open up for them on their first U.S. tour. It ended up being our only show,
but it was a lot of fun. We were called Bound And Gagged and played more of the "Power Violence" style of HC, kind of a cross between No Comment and
Neanderthal if anybody here knows those bands at all. |
