Discipline - 6-24-2006 at 09:27 PM

The name 187 Crew screams of a giant case of the gay.

The GAY for sure, fuck that dumb crap right in it's dumb fuckin eye.

Maybe I'm too cynical, but this thread reeks of a shitty attempt at self promotion. Why would someone take the time to register on a board that has nothing to do with the band mentioned and talk about how great they are? It's possible I'm way off base here, but I don't really see any other reason for a stupid post like the start of this thread. Personally the band name sounds like one of those braindead gangsta thugcore bands and I'll be happier if I never have to hear another one of them again.

Basically what I was trying to say. I just didn't feel they were worth that many words.

BKT - 6-25-2006 at 10:41 AM

I love the thug shit and even I will admit 187 crew sounds mad gay. Not to mention the name of the song as well, "Grand Slam"? Come on now.

MM.

tireironsaint - 6-25-2006 at 12:02 PM

Wow, MM agrees? I'm in shock. I'll back you up on the song title too. Grand Slam, what is this, Denny's style thugcore?

barc0debaby - 6-25-2006 at 01:28 PM

Buttermilk pancakes, two eggs, bacon and sausage, thats what you eat when you reppin for the streetz.

This makes it official, if this dude thinks it's gay, it has the GAY more than most thug crap.

biz4 - 6-25-2006 at 03:09 PM

no seriously im not self-promoting, im trying to find out information about these guys. I will admit 187 crew does sound mad gay though and the lyrics to grand slam are gay, but i like it anyway.

Discipline - 6-25-2006 at 03:16 PM

This board doesn't have a large fanbase for the thug shit. There's a few fans of the genre round these here parts, but not many. You're more likely to be able to find any info yer looking for in terms of old school hardcore on this board. We're grumpy old bastards.:D

XnMeX - 6-25-2006 at 09:42 PM

I will back this guy up.... I have no idea who the guy is, but I remember hearing this track YEARS ago and searching for them as well. I believe I heard it on a volume of the "Traces of death" video. I had NO luck finding any info on them. I don't remember the song much, but it was catchy. Thug core indeed, I remember one line was "i'll take you down with my louisville slugger" ;) I want the mp3 still ;)

EDIT: Indeed it was a traces of death vid.... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0375149/soundtrack

EDIT AGAIN:..... Oh shit! I solved the mystery and this guy was asking in the right place......

187 Crew.... I know who they are, and I am a fan of theres...

ALOT of you are fans of theirs.....

Here is a hint myspace comment for you...

Danny, where can I find "Grand Slam" at? I had the Traces of Death CD, but I lost it, and now I can't find that CD or song anywhere! =( Please let me know where I can get it. Thanks...

Awnser anoyne?

NORTH SIDE KINGS = 187 Crew.

From the comments on the NSK myspace, it looks like either 187 beacme NSK or it was at least an old group Danny used to front. Looks like iv'e been down with Danny's shit longer than I thought!

Got a message back from Danny about it and he used to sing and play guitars for 187 crew. Said it was a "drinking / fun" band ;) I know I liked the song that I heard...

biz4 - 6-26-2006 at 02:24 PM

You agreed the name sounded "mad gay" in your second post.

BDx13 - 6-27-2006 at 12:10 AM

i could really go for a moons over my hammy.

sytmatt - 6-27-2006 at 10:22 PM

not to piss anyone off, but i think if it was 88 again all of you would have crews, and they would all have gay names

BDx13 - 6-28-2006 at 12:03 AM

you think there were more crews back then than there are now? maybe it's just that the big ones seem more prevalent now.

I realize you were probably in diapers in 88, but a whole lot of us on here were around back then, myself included. I can't speak for everybody on this next point, but I certainly wasn't running with any crews, fruitily named or otherwise.

Ditto. No gay ass "crews" for me. I have enough self esteem to not need stupidity of it all.

upyerbum - 6-28-2006 at 03:04 PM

The term crew wasn't really in use except when referring to your close group of friends. The term is actually a skinhead term that was stolen by hip-hop that was stolen by hardcore.

mafia guys were calling the people who worked for them their "crew" back into the 50s
which is from people refering to people they worked with
"bob is part of my crew at work"
the mafia used the same terms with the understanding that their "crew" was something quite different

JawnDiablo - 6-28-2006 at 04:52 PM

preppy dudes in my high school on the row team were also called crew....

Grand Slam

Vile - 8-27-2009 at 12:05 AM

If anyone is still interested I have the Grand Slam mp3 file from the Traces of Death IV soundtrack.

XHonusWagnerX - 8-27-2009 at 08:21 AM

Im curious about it based on this thread that I missed back in 2006!

BDx13 - 8-27-2009 at 09:44 AM

What the hell...
post up a link, Vile.

Honus, if you reread the thread, a new member posted looking for a track by this band 187 Crew. As you can imagine, all hell broke loose, largely cause of the band name. Turns out, it's an old band fronted by Danny NSK.

XnMeX - 8-27-2009 at 09:54 AM

POST IT! Danny was supposed to send me some 187 Crew but didn't. I only asked him once so I am sure it just slipped his mind.

XnMeX - 8-27-2009 at 10:13 AM

http://www.myspace.com/187crewhc

They listed THORP as the record label! ;)

DaveMoral - 8-27-2009 at 11:50 AM

Oh, shit. This thread has been hilarious. Real hilarious. Everyone slagging the poor newb for 187 Crew and then it turns out to be Danny NSK's thing.

Is it just me or is this myspace link probably a newer recording?

BDx13 - 8-27-2009 at 12:13 PM

well, the name IS pretty funny!

XnMeX - 8-27-2009 at 12:20 PM

Nope, not new... That is the song I remember. Good stuff!

Vile - 8-27-2009 at 06:13 PM

Are you down with a 187?
http://kronos.krytosvirus.com/Grand%20Slam.mp3

XnMeX - 8-27-2009 at 06:21 PM

Thanks!

Vile - 8-28-2009 at 10:12 AM

So I screwed up on the transfer to my server and didnt let it complete the upload. I have re-uploaded the file in its entirety so the end of the song is present now. So re-download the file again if you want.

BDx13 - 8-28-2009 at 11:37 AM

vile, just curious...how did you find this board?

Vile - 8-28-2009 at 11:50 AM

I too was searching for the song and it was no where to be found. I ended up searching on one of my older servers and had it archived there. Thought I might pass it along for everyone else to enjoy.

XnMeX - 8-28-2009 at 03:36 PM

Hey Vile, You have cehcked out NSK, right?
