about how what you say and do affects other people? seriously, cause i think the majority of the population doesn't. it absolutely kills me on a day to day basis how self absorbed people are. even just smalls things like using your signal light when you're turning, holding a door for someone or returning someones smile in a public setting. im probably the most anti social fucker on the planet but i always make an effort to be a decent human being, i was raised that way. is it really that much to ask for people to consider someone other than themselves ever?

I hate people and I do all the things you mentioned.

I HATE people that don't use turn signals!! I also always make it a point to hold doors, its just a simple thing to do.

I think its al about how you were raised. My parents always said "you don't have to like everyone, just be polite. Say hello, thanks you, please & good bye. That's all you're required to do."

It seems like the younger people (damn I'm old!!) are getting ruder and more obnoxious every day!!

I definitely do all the things mentioned here. I go out of my way on a daily basis to be polite and respectful towards total strangers, I even apologize if I accidentally miss the opportunity to hold a door or something. What I find amusing is that it's always those of us who hate the majority of humanity who can actually be counted on to do these things. Maybe if there were more people who did this stuff, we wouldn't hate quite so many people.

i try to be respectful as i can be. sometimes i'm not but...i make the attempt.

and that's the crux of it. i get more bitter and resentful every time i try to meet the world halfway for nothing.

That is the truth right there. Another one is coming to a dead stop for people standing on the side of the road to let them cross... 90% of the time I get a head nod, smile, wave , SOME sort of acknowledgment... But sometimes they just walk, don't look over, usually have a "That's right you stoped!" look on their faces. Makes me want to mow them over.

I think the reason we all hate the majority of people is because we are aware of all of these little things and make an effort to do them because we had a good upbringing when it comes to respect and politeness. The people we hate arent even aware alot of the time that they are being self absorbed assholes who dont acknowledge basic gestures towards others. Here are some others that really boil my blood

walking up on someone and they make no effort to move, so you have to get out of the way

people talking on their goddamnh cell phones while driving, I fucking HATE this one, just this morning I saw this dumb cunt swerving all over the place in front of me, I got in the other lane and sped up to pass her, as I went by, shes yappin on her face hugger and smokin at the same time while attempting to drive, so I flipped her off as I went by, fuckin asshole

people who dont say thank you when you hold the door for them, because I constantly hold doors in public almost to fault. My wife has actually had to tell me lets go because I will stand there and hold it for a line of people, and not one will say thank you.

I have alot more but this could take a lifetime and a half.

Ive been one of those people who holds the door for someone behind me - maybe they say thank you.. maybe not - and then there's a flood of people after them making no attempt to at least hold the door a bit themselves so that I can move on or acknowledge that Im there. It's as if Im a doorman and that's my job. That doesnt happen too often, but when it does it makes me fucking angry.

joemaconmovies - 7-21-2006 at 11:43 AM

actually, i have to point out that since i've been in my wheelchair out in public for a rew years now that people have been pretty nice and willing to help me out in a lot of cases. when i was walking with the cane, some would still help me but i did get some rude people who didn't seem to give a fuck. but i have to give people credit where credit is due. being in the chair has at least shown me that alot of people are willing ot help out a complete strange. maybe people are a lot like use, they try to be respectful, we just catch them on bad days. just throwing that out there.
