Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

yah.... so my house got broken into tonight...

XHonusWagnerX - 8-13-2006 at 01:24 AM

Me and my roommate went out to eat and then were hanging out doing stuff and when we came home and she went into her bedroom stuff was thrown around and the window was wide open. I grabbed the cordless phone and we both went outside and I called 911.

The cops seemed to take a really long time to get there (probably almost 20 minutes). They showed up and went through the house and there was no one in it. which we figured but I was worried about anyway, so thats why we went outside.

They tried to fingerprint, but who ever broke in was wearing gloves so theres pretty much no chance of anything coming back to us. Not a ton of stuff was taken, but the stuff that is gone is either pricey or was family stuff.

Sony PSP
60 gig photo iPod
bunch of random Jewlery from my roommmates room
My great grandmothers diamond ring
My great grandfathers pocket watch

a hundred or so baseball cards including:
1948 Dimagio
1968 Mantle
1974 Yaz

about $1600 cash

a bunch of old coins and paper money that were my grandmothers/great grandmothers

Probably more stuff to, but right now the 2 main concerns are #1 the fact that the window was left open and my roommates cat is now missing. Its late and dark so we walked around, but didnt see much. Ill go back out as soon as its light and hopefully find her, but shes never been outside at all so shes worried. and #2 I feel completly violated and actually scared in my own home and thats fucking shitty!

Its so fucked up that they took what they did in a house full of collectibles! No guitars are gone, computer not gone, laptop, video camera, John Wayne Gacy painting.... and so on.... ALL NOT TOUCHED.

Fuck I hate people.... life is SO fucking shitty!

godabandonedme - 8-13-2006 at 01:42 AM

Wow that sucks. Alot. Sorry. I had a very collectible handgun stolen from my dads when they broke in there but what really sucked was that before my grandfather passed he had me and my brother pick out the ones we wanted when he was gone so I know how shitty it is to have "heirlooms" taken. Sorry dude.

XHonusWagnerX - 8-13-2006 at 02:13 AM

well one good thing...

we just found the cat.

Dave - 8-13-2006 at 02:34 AM

i know how you feel , i got broken into more than once, such a shitty feeling, its a violation, not to make you feel worst but keep on eye out the next week or so, most time they'll try and hit again now that they have a better idea of what is in there and where. get some locks for your bedrooms doors.

newbreedbrian - 8-13-2006 at 02:51 AM

that sucks honus. been there a few times, it's that violated feeling thats the worst. sticks in the windows as well as locks on the bedroom doors is a good idea. it won't stop anyone whos determined but most people are in a hurry and its a decent deterent. shitty tho man, i know how you feel

MyOwnWay - 8-13-2006 at 03:19 AM

Sorry Honus. That sucks beyond words. Having that comfort and sanctity of your home stripped from you is horrible.

clevohardcore - 8-13-2006 at 03:24 AM

Dude I am sorry to hear that. I hope they can catch that or those fuckers. They got strange shit. What did the police say? All small items taken. Sounds like 1 person maybe 2 but I doubt that. Is it a house or apartment? Did it seem like they new were to go to find that shit? or did they make a total mess finding them? Suspicious they new when you left for a little while. They must have seen you leave. Could be someone you had over or new one of you guys. Whatever the case that fucking sucks. Isn't JDiablo the Philly Police officer? Get his opinion. I'm sorry to hear this Honus. Does Rhode Island have a consealed carry law?

Spoiler - 8-13-2006 at 07:26 AM

Damn man,that really sucks.
start looking around at the local pawn shops, you may find some of your stuff at one of em....cause thats most likely the first place the meth/crack head/lowlife/pieceofshit went.

XnMeX - 8-13-2006 at 08:36 AM

I had this happen to me when I was a kid and for a while, I either needed my older brother to be home at night (which he usually wouldn't be), or I would go to my moms work and sleep there (she worked the night shit). I refused to sleep alone in the house after it being violated like that.

DaveMoral - 8-13-2006 at 08:47 AM

That sucks dude. You've got to feel a million times more paranoid than I did when my car got broken into(all they took was a Sony discman and a cheap pair of sunglasses) a year or so ago.

That shit pisses me off, because I think people that do that shit often have some sense of entitlement, and fuck all that.

barc0debaby - 8-13-2006 at 11:08 AM

Goddamn tweakers.

Discipline - 8-13-2006 at 11:35 AM

Sucks dude. Happened to me about 4 years ago in my old apartment. I totally understand the violated feeling.

godabandonedme - 8-13-2006 at 01:51 PM

Clevo, I'm the cop. Basically, police respond to 911 calls by priority. We do it pretty much 5 to 0 with 0 being the highest priority. In a Normal big city 5 would be like someone calling because a neighboors dog is barking to lougd. 0 would be a cop in trouble. The problem here in philly is that most of our time is taken up by 1-2 priority jobs (person w/gun shots fired, person w/weapon, rape in progress, burg in progress etc, and in the middle of this lots of cops start chasing people and fighting people etc.) This means that every job from 2-5 gets pushed back that much further untill we catch up, which we never do because we just don't have the people (or intelligant officers) for that matter. Basically, when I get in my car at 3 o'clock and make myself available radio will come over and say something like "good afternoon 3915 we are 30 (jobs - 911 calls) in the hole, 5 priority" Meaning those 5 have to be taken care of first but in that time 5 or 10 more prioritys have already come out. Response time SUCKS. Also, here a burg/open property would have been responded to pretty quickly I would think, but it really depends on what the 911 call taker typed to dispatch who gives it to us. The call taker probablly got the impression that he knew or thought no one was in the house which then it goes from a burg in progress to a report of a burg which shoves it back up the list. Sorry, so blame it on the retards of your city who can't take care of themselves like adults and call 911 because they baby dady drank dey foty an dey want dat nigga out dey section 8 crib.

barc0debaby - 8-13-2006 at 02:12 PM

A couple of my buddies were drinking under a bridge a few weeks back and some people called the police because they thought they were tagging. The cops were real cool and they ended up talking about punk rock and hardcore for a while (22nd safest city in america they have alot of down time) and they also had a rookie with them so they were showing him how to check if people had any gang background. A call comes on the radio for a burglary and the officer who was closest to the area started to bitch about not wanting to take it. The guy pleads for the officers that were talking to my friends to take the call for him even though its just a few blocks away from him. He showed up a half an hour or so after the call was made.

godabandonedme - 8-13-2006 at 02:47 PM

because we just don't have the people (or intelligant officers)

DAK - 8-13-2006 at 03:01 PM

Sorry to here that. Fuck people.

clevohardcore - 8-13-2006 at 03:34 PM

My bad Godabandon

RomanticViolence - 8-13-2006 at 11:52 PM

Sorry to hear about that honus :(

morgan - 8-14-2006 at 12:02 AM

It sucks that people do shit like that.

godabandonedme - 8-14-2006 at 12:23 AM

On a better note, although most times it looks like the cops aren't doing much (well they really aren't) it takes a little while but usually people like this have done this a million times but yea it takes a little while to tie them all together and find the retards. And with the specific stuff that was stolen, theres a smaller market for expensive single piece jewerly and exspecially baseball cards. If there's a store around hit that up, an keep an eye on ebay.

Voodoobillyman - 8-14-2006 at 08:13 AM

Checking the pawn shops is a good start to trying to find your stuff. Definitely check every lock in the house to make sure they are in fact locked now when you go out , and sticks in the windows helps a heap. Glad you found the cat, very sorry to hear about this shitty situation.

XHonusWagnerX - 8-14-2006 at 02:33 PM
