The Welch Boys & The Dead Kennedys?!

XHonusWagnerX - 8-14-2006 at 08:37 PM

So does anyone know who is in the "Dead Kennedys" now??

I just got this as a bulletin from Mark (Welch Boys) on Myspace. I dont know if the spelling of "Kennedies" is a mistake on his part of it thats what they are calling themselves or if its a different band of what....

i don't know who plays in that band, but i can confirm that the welch boys are playing the shows.

XHonusWagnerX - 8-15-2006 at 08:13 AM

I heard from someone that its all the original members (minus Jello) with Jeff Penalty singing.

clevohardcore - 8-15-2006 at 08:53 AM

Didn't they tour a couple years ago as all original members minus Jello? That is even more rediculous than The Misfits minus Danzig. Who fucking cares about the DK unless Jello is in it. His rants made that band. I know I know not cool to say that but seriously I have no desire to hear DK kareokie

yah they did, but the singer they had for that tour was Brandon Cruz (Courtship of Eddies Father). Kind of an odd side note, they played at The Station in Warwick, RI on that tour. The Station is the place that burned to the ground and killed 100 people during a Great White concert.

gavin - 8-15-2006 at 10:44 AM

Brandon Cruz later apologized for doing the tour saying it was a mistake

I never saw them with Jello but did catch 'em twice with Brandon Cruz and twice with Jeff Penalty. With Brandon Cruz they were awesome and I'd love to see that lineup again, can't say the same for Jeff Penalty though they basically sucked with him singing.

sinister - 8-15-2006 at 11:31 AM

And yeah according to http://www.deadkennedys.com/ the lineup is:

East Bay Ray, Klaus Flouride, D.H. Peligro and Jeff Penalty

Discipline - 8-15-2006 at 12:55 PM

I'd love to see either of those shows just to see the Welch Boys and The Generators.

i totally heckled him when they came to Norfolk and he rolled with the punches, we had some people yellin mean shit at the band and he just laughed it off. He did glare once or twice though. At the end we kept yelling Jello!!! and he shook his head, but looked pissed by then. Fuck him and FUCK them.

Welch Boys, yes. Dead Kennedys, no. Never really could get into that band; all my friends loved them, but for some reason never felt it.

However, that album that Jello did with DOA (Last Scream of the Missing Neighbour) was so good.

sorry Honus....my bad. I typed that out quickly and sent it without even reading it. I can barely spell my own name.

DaveMoral - 8-15-2006 at 06:04 PM

Wasn't Jello trying to sue those dudes for touring???

I think they just added "The" to Dead Kennedys to get away with it. Kind of like Bad Brains minus HR was "Soul Brains". Cro-Mags minus Harley and Parris "FVK" haha.

I think that Madonna owns the name now. Something about when they were shopping the record that STILL hasnt come out yet and Maverick wanted the record.

That sucks!

Guess that's what happens when you mess around with majors...

thedog - 8-16-2006 at 12:02 AM

"In the wake of the alternative rock boom of the early '90s, Bad Brains were finally offered a major-label contract in 1993, releasing Rise on Epic later that year. The album bombed and the group was dropped.

Maverick Records offered the group a contract in 1995, provided that the original lineup reunited. They did so and released God of Love that summer, to mixed reviews and poor sales. H.R. and Hudson left the band shortly after the album's release, and the band was dropped by Maverick. In 1998 the band again reunited and began touring under the name Soul Brains. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide "

I'll be going to both shows and hopefully filming a set by The Welch Boys and perhaps the Generators.
