Generally speaking, I am very happy with the way things have gone on this board in the year and a half it has been up. We've got a lot of great
people here, and that's what is most important. However, there are a few challenges (and annoyances) associated with maintaining the board,
including:
Getting enough regular posts so that others will come back regularly to see what's new. Its a vicious cycle!
Dealing with meddling kids who are up to no good. Don't make me ban your IP!
Keeping the software up to date and secure to prevent...
Hackers. Loosing several thousand posts was not fun.
And the newest addition... automated registrations. Spammers use software to automatically register users to thousands of message board
applications all at once. The only fields of information they include are username and homepage url, in hopes that another user will view one of
these member pages, and click on the link to their site. (It alsp helps google placement.) Its usually some porn site doing it, but in today's case,
its color laser engravers! Awesome.

just deleted another 20 users from the database and banned all their ips. all were flood spam registrations. some for color laser printers, others
for rape sex. awesome. what a way to spend a hour. next version of the mesageboards WILL have flood check as part of the registration. (that's
where a graphic whith a random collection of letter/numbers is displayed, and the user has to enter those letters/numbers before they can continue.
this prevents automated registration cause only humans can read the graphics, and the bots are unable to register automatically.)

duane, you need to hire a computer nerd, to send the websites that are being advertised some malicious code.
