Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

#2 Night Bad Brains @ CB's (Now featuring Pictures by XHonusX)

dummkopf - 10-11-2006 at 12:18 PM

Was it as pathetic and terrible as the opening night? I have heared folks hating as much as mondays show and others who thought it was great.

Did HR pull his Soul Brains shit again or did he get his shit together to do those old songs justice?

XHonusWagnerX - 10-11-2006 at 12:31 PM

I thought it was awesome! The only thing I wasnt totally sure of was what kind of 'character' HR was playing. He was either being really efeminent or he was pretending to be like a little kid. Either way it was awesome!

Any show that can get my 200+, 32 year old self to stage dive is something impressive!

dummkopf - 10-11-2006 at 12:35 PM

did HR ssing like in the old days or did he again pull off his soul brains shit? was he smiling throughout the set, not moving an inch, other than throwing the crowd peace symbols and telling them to read the bible and believe in god?

that's really all I'd like to know. there is no doubt about the other members being able to play a tight set. they managed to do that on monday too.

XHonusWagnerX - 10-11-2006 at 12:38 PM

He didnt jump around very much but I kind of attribute that to age and wear and tear on his body (maybe Im wrong). He didnt preach bible stuff he just told insane stories and jokes that almost made no sense.

He did go up behind the drums before the last song and played drums for a few minutes.

one could also interprete this as MOCKING people. like my wife put it on monday "does this asshole think he's on sesame street or captain kangaroo??

It could be, but I think that HR has such a history of just being crazy that I think hes just being himself. I dont think hes mocking anyone or trying to be a jerk. I think he just does whatever he feels at any given moment... IE: Wearing the motorcycle helmet. By the way, how long did he wear that helmet?

Were they outside selling Tshirts themselves after the show on Monday night?? I thought that was pretty funny!

50/50 I think.... but in my opinion he was singing fast enough which BD said he was not doing on Monday

the helmet was on for a song or two. I was kinda tired by the time they dragged their wrinkly old asses onto the stage. it took them an hour after avail had left the stage to start with the soundcheck. there was no apperent technical reason for that kind of bullshit, just pure rockstardom.

yes, the funny as shit shirt selling outside of CB's happened on monday too.

I will go again tonight and most likely leave after Underdog. I don't need to suffer through this crap again.

An artist sure can express himself however he or she feels. but if one bills themselves for Bad Brains then fucking be Bad Brains and not some lame Jah version of it (this is due to HR only, I am aware of that. I said before that the Dr und Darryl played a tight set)

thanks. I will then leave after underdog tonight. I have heared of other folks who considered last nights show the worst they have ever been to.

the most classic audience line from monday was someone shouting: "put john joseph back on stage"
what a diss!

XHonusWagnerX - 10-11-2006 at 12:58 PM

Wow.... I guess maybe if people got to see BAD BRAINS when they were at their peek then I could see thinking it wasnt that great but I dont know how anyone could say that it was the worst show they ever saw. I dont know what band could compete with what I saw last night (in my opinion). The only bands that come to mind that I would be as excited as I was last night to see would be a FULL Misifts reunion or Black Flag or maybe Negative FX.

dummkopf - 10-11-2006 at 01:02 PM

imho the thing just is that HR on crack *replace with whatever shit he is consuming* is as good of a singer for Bad Brains as Britney Spears would be.

never in my life would I have thought to be so happy NOT to go to a Bad Brains show like I was last night.

gavin - 10-11-2006 at 01:28 PM

It would probably sound like when Moby sang it.

whatever it would end up sounding like, it couldn't be worse than what HR is pulling off ;)

btw, I saw Moby 2 weeks ago or so playing bass for Flipper for one song during the American Hardcore release after show party. that was actually quite fun even though it was held in some yuppied out hippster bar on the west side in the "club district"

XHonusWagnerX - 10-11-2006 at 08:55 PM

They lack quality because I took them with my cell phone, but I was right at the edge of the stage so most of them look 1/2 decent!

LAST 2 PICTURES ARE OF H.R. PLAYING DRUMS

BDx13 - 10-11-2006 at 09:03 PM

he looks much more animated than he did on monday night.
what time did they wind up going on?

it was about 11:15

wheres a question.... who is THE MOB? I thought they were the OLD hardcore band with Jack Flanagan in it. The band that played before the bouncing souls was NOT that band. It was some bad metal band with a singer that wore a Freddy Kruger glove for one song. Then they did a cover of Crucified by AF (REALLY poorly!)

BDx13 - 10-11-2006 at 11:22 PM

yeah, that was YDI from philly.

Dave - 10-12-2006 at 05:45 AM

Crucified

is a Iron Cross song............. ;)

gavin - 10-12-2006 at 07:53 AM

YDI RULES!!!!!!!!!

JawnDiablo - 10-12-2006 at 08:35 AM

i seen them dudes before.

Wow.... Maybe Im missing something, but they were pretty bad Tuesday night. No one was into them at all, I wonder if anyone knew who they were. Their version of Crucified was BAD! It was like they only 1/2 knew how to play it.
