Anyone know a good method to record from the soundboard at a venue? I was thinking maybe with an ipod, but I hear they have a quality block on them.
Anyone have any good methods to recording from the soundboard?
I am having 3-4 people tape my upcoming show and I want to edit a dvd out of it. sound quality I am sure would be horendous unless I get a soundboard

some clubs will provide a dat or cdr recording, so ask them first.
if you're doing it yourself, find a friend with a laptop, and if they don't already have audio recording software, splurge and buy it for 'em. for
the past few years, macs have come with software called garage band that will allow you to record.

I have a digital recorder I used as a soundboard recorder
we would mix all the channels down to 8 tracks, and then those could be mixed later and mastered
I thought about pursuing this line of work before the printing thing took off
come in and record your show for 50.00 mix and master for another 50.00

If your gonna' record live a piece of advice (from previous experience) is turn a mike on the crowd. We recorded live through the board using a DAT

Yup, thats what happened. Sound guy recorded it direct to cdr.
