Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

I need musical advice....

I'm supposed to make mix CDs for a friend at work, and I'm having trouble getting started. He listens to a lot of really awful stuff, none even resembling punk or hardcore. One CD I'm gonna make for him is gonna be straight up punk/oi and the other will be just hardcore (yes, I know they cross lines at times, but you know what I mean). I'm having trouble getting started because if it was up to me I'd just copy my entire fucking music library for him. I might just give him a third CD of the full Age of Quarrel. Any suggestions on where to start?

punk and oi.

Go with bands like Cock Sparrer and Angelic Upstarts. Or if by awful music you mean radio stuff, throw in some rancid, BR and pennywise.

Hardcore.

Run the gammon on this one. SOIA, AF, Madball, BFB, Slapshot, and other classics.

By awful stuff, I mean like industrial KMFDM bullshit.

You could also do like a regional thing. Make a Boston cd, a NY cd, an LA cd.....
