Fuck Thanksgiving

CR83 - 11-22-2006 at 11:02 AM

Most pointless holiday. The only good thing is that I'm off work for 4 days. I could give a shit about eating turkey. Yeah the family gets together but we are lucky enough to be in the same city so we see each other enough.

The other bright spot is running a local 5k "Turkey Trot" with a growing group of friends and family.

Now after Thursday we are completly innundated with bullshit sales and holiday "cheer".

Holidays are just so fucking commercial.

I sound like a bitter old man.

Happy Fucking Thanksgving.

My family suffer from just about every dysfnction there is, so I'm not just especially looking forward to it either.

BDx13 - 11-22-2006 at 11:15 AM

fuck it. i can't wait. we've got at least two stove top suffing stops to make tomorrow, and i'm trying to line up a third.

i read an article in the philly inquirer this morning about how black friday is now black thursday. some retailers are starting the price cutting thanksgiving night from 9-midnight. still others are opening at 1am or 3am or 5am. if i had money to spend and was in the market for major electronics, i'd consider it, but i'm not, soo...

We all have the unalienable right to choose not to participate in all that BS and sit at home with a bag of chips on our ample stomachs watching football and movies for 4 days.
I'm glad I get to spend time with my family tomorrow and then have 3 more days to sleep before going back to work.

i have once or twice, but unfortunately, not with any frequency.
maybe i need to get my motherinlaw to introduce it as a regualr thanksgiving side dish.
i assume is home made the way to go?

maybe i need to concoct a thanksgiving side dish founded on scrapple.

Very good point. I'm still dealing with the whole "no wisdom teeth" B.S. so the eating part is moot.

You have now convinced me to just drink a lot of beer this weekend. Good on ya.

JawnDiablo - 11-22-2006 at 12:20 PM

i am intriuged by this apple sausage stuffing....

Jason the Magnificent - 11-22-2006 at 02:26 PM

Its good stuff, made with corn bread instead of typical stuffing...although I suppose it isn't necessary. Very good.

If you want a recipe you can google "apple and sausage stuffing" I'm sure 30 results come up.

Im not as big on the traditions of the holiday as I am of getting the family together. My family tends to need reasons to get together... holidays, weddings, funerals... or else we'd never see each other. Now Im talking extended family. I try to see my father and mother as often as possible.

With that said, I wont be home on Thanksgiving day this year. Mrs. Moron is working tonight and tomorrow night, so we're not going anywhere. My office sponsors a Thanksgiving dinner for our clients and people in the community, so I'll be volunteering there. Ive been told that the old people are a huge pain in the ass at this dinner, but I'll put on a happy face and keep my mouth shut.

My brother lives 18 hours from me and my mom lives 8 hours away, and I have to work on Fri because ever since the great depression there has been a federal law that forbids banks to be closed any longer than 3 consecutive days...so we have to be here on Fri. Kill myself.

XHonusWagnerX - 11-23-2006 at 10:10 AM

This was the best thanksving I ever had... Turkey sandwiches in some sleezy backstage somewhere in Scotland!

BKT - 11-23-2006 at 11:59 AM

Thanksgiving in Canada is not as a big deal as in the USA. I guess Christmas is our big one and I love it all. Family, friends, time off and food. That is all good with me.

Anyway you Yankes, have a good weekend and happy Thanksgiving.

MM.

That is all.

barc0debaby - 11-23-2006 at 02:53 PM

This is the first thanksgiving I can truely appreciate. They put me on hold for Engineering school so have to clean the same 40 sq feet for seven hours every weekday, but not this week!

clevohardcore - 11-23-2006 at 03:22 PM

I love the holidays. My family has always been fucked up but whatever. I got a boy now. I am making the Holidays what I always wanted them to be for him.

Happy thanksgiving all.

ENDERA.x - 11-24-2006 at 03:32 PM

godabandonedme - 11-24-2006 at 03:59 PM

What were you doing over here and how long were you over for? Hope I haven't missed some great bands you were out on tour with, not been to any shows since Even in blackouts last week and got nothing lined up 'til Propagadhi play in about 3 weeks.
