I think I dont know what 'metal-core' is because I thought most of those bands were 'hard-core'

Discipline - 12-5-2006 at 08:21 PM

DRI
AF
Carnivore
Integrity
Rinworm
All Out War
Merauder
COC

The genre tag of metalcore has been dragged through the mud so a lot of people think of guys wearing girls pants and singing about gay shit like Atreyu and such when they hear the word. The good metalcore was hardcore ethics and idealogies fused with heavier riffing and more metal influence, ala AOW and Integrity.

i didn't even realize 75% of the bands listed above were considered metalcore.

Spoiler - 12-5-2006 at 09:10 PM

Overcast
Prayer for Cleansing
Integrity
Ringworm
All Out War
Merauder
Stigmata
100 Demons
Full Blown Chaos
Starkweather

I guess these are metalcore

I call All Out War a metalcore band and rate them #1 by far. The new stuff going around as metalcore, not sure what it is but it aint the hardcore/metal blend I call metalcore. Most of it is just metal or something.

Metalcore is a more recent invention and I'd define it as a blend of AIDS, windmilling faggotrons, white belts, size S shirts and hepatitis C.

that right there is timeless and i want it printed on a t shirt

As Marv Albert would say - "YES!"

Gooch - 12-6-2006 at 01:07 PM

Deadguy is so not metalcore.

Siczine.com - 12-6-2006 at 02:01 PM

I guess everyone has a different perspective of what metalcore is, and I should've called this thread top 10 crossover/metalcore bands.

gavin - 12-6-2006 at 02:04 PM

I always thought the more technical and mathy shit like Coalesce and Converge and shit like that was metalcore... the like smarty pants, nerd stuff. Cave In, you know? All Out War is pretty much a thrash band as far as I'm concerned.. and I love that band to no end.

windmilling faggotrons was priceless by the way! Kudos on that one, BCHC!

Siczine.com - 12-6-2006 at 08:13 PM

I guess when it comes down to it, it's a matter of personal perspective. Just like how a lot of people would say anything that is slower than midpaced isn't hardcore. Oh well.

moforn - 12-6-2006 at 08:46 PM

do the following bands count? (if not...fuck metalcore)
-tragedy
-his hero is gone
-motorhead (I know they don't, but they're sort of metal and hardcore so I defy anyone to tell me they're not)
-the swarm

Siczine.com - 12-6-2006 at 09:46 PM

Rosrschach is the shit too
