One of the most overrated bands ever. I remember those AN hoodies were going for 200 bucks on ebay awhile back.

Discipline - 12-10-2006 at 06:07 PM

That's fucked up.

Jason the Magnificent - 12-10-2006 at 07:21 PM

EXACTLY

i'm actually not that familiar with them. what was their deal? all i really know is that they had to change their name, and were really slow in doing so. why did they have such a rabid fan base? and was that why you guys they think they brought about the end?

upyerbum - 12-11-2006 at 12:12 PM

I know guys who wouldn't pay that for a car.

JawnDiablo - 12-11-2006 at 12:18 PM

I'll sell ya's a Slayer Hell Awaits first press on Metal Blade slightly worn

The bands know these things will sell like mad so they make sure they do a lot of of them is my guess.

BDx13 - 12-11-2006 at 12:39 PM

test pressings have gotten out of hand.

moron - 12-11-2006 at 12:48 PM

I like American Nightmare. Yeah, they might have spawned some crappy bands, but I dont think that AN should necessarily be held accountable for what those other bands created.

how much you figure the black version on wishingwell would sell for? cause i got a mortgage to pay!

XHonusWagnerX - 12-11-2006 at 01:38 PM

Now I know that I spend a bunch of money on Slapshot records, but the thing with most (not all, but most) of the people buying that stuff is that they collect that aggressivly for a number of bands. Thats something I cant understand!

Have you ever spent that kind of money on one single record? Oh and as a side note "drunk at the YOT reunion" is a rad ass tune

JUICE MAYNE MSHC - 12-11-2006 at 01:41 PM

Listen to this shit...I know a guy who is a VERY good thief, anything you want, he can get it. A couple years ago he went into the gift shop at the Gibson guitar factory in Memphis and stole two $6,000 Les Pauls. He went in and stuck the neck down his pants and the body under his jacket and walked it to his car...then went back in and got another. $12,000 worth of guitars. The relevance of this story? He traded one of the guitars to Bane for a test press record, and one to American Nightmare for another test press. He is a record freak.

No... not on a single record. The most I spent was on the LAST RIGHTS Hitler sleeve 7" and that was just over $200.

Well... actually... I bought a JUDGE Chung King for $1000, BUT the only reason I bought it was because I know I can resell it for more with NO problem. Im just holding on to it until I decide to sell it. I didnt buy it to keep or because I wanted to collect it. Totally for resale value.

BDx13 - 12-11-2006 at 02:40 PM

and you will definitely see more than that back once you sell it.

hell, i had a bunch of those 10" revelation can suck it boots, and each one sold for over $50 on ebay and that was back in 99.

Is your collection insured? If not I would look into it for sure.

BDx13 - 12-11-2006 at 03:13 PM

i looked into it a little bit, and most of what i've heard is that it's hard to insure a collection as whole. if you want to insure all of your records beyond whatever your existing home owners or renters insurance covers, you have to insure each item individually.

JawnDiablo - 12-11-2006 at 04:07 PM

i suppose one could do the same if they owned rare guitars

D, what color is the cover? Blue with red lettering? Or Black with yellow? Blue one is 1st press which usually only sells for like $25, maybe a little more if you're lucky.
The black and yellow is 2nd press which is rarer. I've seen this go for $50-75. So either way, you're no paying any bills with this record.

The real gems are the red and blue colored vinyl. $500+ is pretty much the rate for these. Some day I WILL own one of these. Its been at the top of my want list for over 15 years now...

Pressing info:

Break Down The Walls 12" - Wishingwell Records
#4 - 1987
1st Press -
Black Vinyl
150 - Blue Vinyl
150 - Red Vinyl
150 is a approx. count. 100 of each of the colors were given to the band
to sell but before they got a chance, everything was stolen from their van what
parked near CBGB's before a show. Assuming that the thieves were not hardcore
fans and just wanted the equipment. The Records were probably destroyed, Wishingwelll
sold the rest to stores local to Orange County, CA. The difficulty of finding
either color of this record can be attributed to the 66% loss rate. Another
fairly distressing yet humorous twist to the plot is that the owner of one of
the stores that got a number of the remaining color vinyl copies, took a dozen
or so red ones home and nailed, yes nailed, them to his back porch and watched
them curl up over time. There are yellow and black sleeves for this as well..

2nd Press -
Yellow and Black sleeves. It's not known if this is not the official press
or not since it is so difficult to find.

BDx13 - 12-12-2006 at 11:11 AM

mine is blue with red lettering. oh well.

PAINT MY HOUSE, RAY CAPPO, YA BITCH!

so of the first pressing, there are roughly only 50 of each color? wow. i've never seen a blue vinyl version, or this second pressing for that matter.

Discipline - 12-12-2006 at 01:48 PM

I remember selling a copy of Y.O.T.'s first 7" to a guy for about $800 a few years back. Dude was desperate to have it.

BDx13 - 1-1-2007 at 07:00 PM

i guess cause there are only about 40 of em. too rich for my blood, either way.

here's a record i have that i'd sell if i could guarantee making that much:
http://cgi.ebay.com/TURNING-POINT-s-t-7-GOLD-VINYL-oRiGiNaL-...

even though this is like the third pressing, there are only 100 with the silver labels. i know i'm the first owner of my copy, but i don't recall where i bought it.

D, those TP's on gold always go for around $100. That's been the standard price for a while now. I'd love to buy it from you, but Xmas bills are killing me right now! I need that to complete my TP collection. I have the 7" on red and 1st pressing on black, plus the Lp on clear.

BDx13 - 1-2-2007 at 06:10 PM

do you have that one with the warzone label? cause that'll help with the bills!! ;)

thanks for the info on the silver labels. good to know.

Looks like if you hold off a bit you can sell it to Gooch, make your money and know the LP is going to a good home!

How can that be confirmed as being really that old? Holy crap... time to start bootlegging some Misfits crap!!

upyerbum - 1-3-2007 at 09:42 PM

No shit, I got a box of rusty old fuckin pins, I gotta' start payin' more attention to this shit. Unfortunately, I sold all my vinyl years ago, when I had to get outta' Dodge. I've slowly been rebuilding, literally, my old record collection. It makes me ill thinking of some of the shit I sold.

(I had a Beatles bootleg of a recording session on blue vinyl, I'm sure that would be a pretty penny, seeing as how I paid 50$ for it in 1984).
