clevohardcore - 12-27-2006 at 12:17 PM

Some gift cards. We spent most on our son this year.

CR83 - 12-27-2006 at 12:20 PM

Nothing major really. I did get a new laptop backpack bag for work. Otherwise it was all about the Kiddies. That's the most important anyway.

Dave - 12-27-2006 at 12:58 PM

me and the woman got gift cards/cash so we can pick up some things for the house and some little things,(socks, sweaters etc.)

i went out today for boxing day sales at 6am to futureshop and picked up a DVR for the house (we dont have a VCR) and i got a MP3 player for myself. Pretty Sweet, year for us!

CR83 - 12-27-2006 at 01:00 PM

Dave, can you give us "Yankees" some details on boxing day? I had a friend from Canada who always took the 26th off. She told me it is called boxing day becaue you box everything up. True? That sounded too easy of an answer for my taste.

Thanks!

You Americans have Black Friday at Thanksgiving as the big shopping day of the year. In Canada Boxing Day is a national holiday that is accompanied by huge sales. It's our Black Friday.

Discipline - 12-27-2006 at 02:54 PM

As fer gifts, the girlfriends parents gave me a great gift. They bave me a booze dispenser like some bars have. It holds 6 bottles and pours measured double shots.

moron - 12-27-2006 at 03:07 PM

I got clothes, a few dvds... the usual. It was a good time. It was fun to see my neice and nephews all excited about Christmas even though two of them are too young to really understand what's going on. It's all about opening gifts as far as their concerned.

Six66Mike - 12-27-2006 at 03:38 PM

- Family Guy freezer mugs & shot glasses

- Saw II

- Lost season 2

- All my CD's shipped from Canada finally

Other stuff I can't remember now.

From the government of Canada web site:

"Boxing Day

The day after Christmas, the Feast of St. Stephen, the first Christian martyr, is better known as Boxing Day. The term may come from the opening of church poor boxes that day; maybe from the earthenware boxes with which boy apprentices collected money at the doors of their masters' clients.

"Boxing Day" is listed in the Canada Labour Code as a holiday."

OR

Day for huge sales, it's probably the biggest shopping day of the year in Canada.

So I'm a spoiled only child with a dad that feels bad that he doesnt really know how to show emotion so he buys me stuff.... Getting the stuff is cool, but I would rather have a more functional family. Plus we have no small children in my family so there are no kids to spoil with toys. Let me also say that Christmas is pretty big to me because I like to give presents. I think I spent almost $1500 on gifts this year.

Anyway, I got.....

80 gig iPod
Playstation Portable

My dad bought me these because they were stolen when my house got broken into and I still hadnt replaced them yet.

Also...

Pawtucket Red Sox baseball jersey
Router for my computer network
Serial Killer art book
Greatest American Hero Tshirt
Gillette razor with 24 replacment blades
Family Guy action figure gift pack
2 cans of 'Cocaine' energy drink
Timmy from South Park talking figure
Joystick with built in games (Galaga, Pacman etc.) you plug into a TV
Gift cards for Music store, Comic store & 2 Resturaunts
A few other books
Some money

and the best present of the year....

The lifesize bust of Beetlejuice! Cast from the head of the man himself!

I wondered that too.

BDx13 - 12-31-2006 at 09:50 PM

the airbase is is a weighted metal and plastic stand with a built-in extension cord for apple's airport express.

the airport express, which i've had for a few years, is a wireless router that includes an audio-out jack. it's meant to plug directly into a wall, but that doesn't work for me. i use mine to both extend the signal of my main wireless router, and stream audio from itunes to my stereo, therefore, i've had it laying on it's side on top of my entertainment unit. unfortunately, the weight of the extension cord i was using kept pulling it off the top and behind my tv, so the airbase was the perfect solution - it's heavy, has a built-in extension cord, and holds the sirport upright for a better signal. all that for 6 bucks.
