Anyone else heard about this? I just heard the mayor of NY talking and they dont think its natural gas because the meters they have to check that
through out the city are not reading high levels. They think that its a leak of mercaptan which is the additional substance that they mix with natural
gas so that it has a smell and can be detected.
The really odd thing is that they cant seem to tell where its coming from. They dont detect any drop in pressure at Con-Ed which I guess is the big
gas company. No one really seems to be sure whats going on yet unfortunantly.
Its probably nothing big, but anyone in NY or NJ be careful.clevohardcore - 1-8-2007 at 12:06 PM

Aparently they think its just the additive that they mix with natural gas to create the odor (so that gas can be smelt if its leaking). Its called
Mercaptan or something like that.
The thing is that they dont seem to know where its leaking from which I guess could be an issue.
The only answer that makes any sense so far is that its coming from New Jersey because the JETS & the GIANTS are home.
