Printing Questions

Has anyone ever printed on tissue-esque paper or wax paper? If so, how was there experience? I'm trying to print my bands demo on something like that because I think the colors would work good with a clear contrast. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This might be a dumb question, but are you printing on a traditional printing press/web press or a wide-format digital printer?

does it have to be thin, or just opaque? cause i think you can buy standard thickness opaque paper.

Precisely my thinking. And the thinness doesn't matter as long as it's opaque.

What kind do you use? I've worked with a Mimaki JVS 160 (S?) and I remember once running through thin polystyrene with no problem. You are probably going to be alright as far as thickness goes, but I would print out some swatches first to play around with color profiling, resolution, saturation, etc. before making a big run.

That I'll have to find out, it's my buddy that has access to all that stuff. If I wanted to print a grey saturated image on a clear/white background what material would you suggest I print on? And thanks for all the help I'm pretty much an idiot when it comes to this.

If you're looking for a wax-type paper, most paper made for wide format stuff like that is usually a more waxy texture than standard copy paper. If you're looking for a clear decal, ask your friend if he has a Gerber Edge. What are trying to do, make record sleeves? Decals? If you're buddy is at a loss also for what to do, see if there's a sign shop local to you with a wide format printer and see if they can help you out with any suggestions. You might also want to consider traditional printing. What's really stumping here is the availabilty of clear material.

Wax type paper would work, I'm just looking for any transparency. I'm trying to make a sleeve for for a CD that fits into a 5x5 sleeve. And I will ask him about the GerberEdge. And thanks for your help. I don't know if anyone here has it but if you have the Horrorshow "Our Design" EP and how it has the wax paper over the image? Well rather than doing that I would like to print an image straight onto type of paper and then have something to contrast it on a solid background.
