Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

cry me a river, Pete Wentz

BDx13 - 1-30-2007 at 09:56 AM

Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz recently discussed the leak of their new album, Infinity on High. The highly anticipated album follows the band's multi-platinum major label debut, From Under The Cork Tree.

In the story, Wentz describes the leak as "devastating" and both the label and band are suggesting that it was a low-level pressing plant employee:

"Our job is to put out records and tour and make music. What are we gonna do? Sit at the plant and watch everybody? Some guy working minimum wage, why would he care how it affects us? It's a multi-pronged thing."

"This could be the worst leak in the history in music, f you think that every year computers, iPod, internet music grows exponentially and we're probably one of the biggest bands in rock music on the internet."

Rolling Stone deconstructed all of Wentz's statements in a tongue -in-cheek look at the five stages of "album leak grief."

don't get me wrong, i understand the frustration of a hightly anticipated album being leaked. and i understand that for as much money as these guys make, they surely have a huge advance to work off, but... all this bitchin' is too much. and blaming it on the working-class guy REALLY doesn't sit well with me.

This guy and that band for the most part were part of the pretentious veganesque metallic metal-core (the deedle deedle deedle screamy crap) scene in Chicago in the mid to late 90's. They started this band as far as I can tell to be clever and it ended up snowballing into what it is now.

Are they really that popular? I will never understand this.

DeathByForce - 1-30-2007 at 12:15 PM

hahaha he got burned by Rolling Stone.

Fuck him and his hair. Get a fucking real job and try to play music bitch, you wouldn't last a fucking day. This is not hardcore, this is not punk, this is a cash-in.

Die Toten Hosen realeased their last album on the internet in its entirety for free, by the way.

I will assume some of this stuff is taken out of context but it shouldn't be a big surprise to Mr. Rockstar that his gay music leaked out. It happens to EVERY album nowadays.

I'm sure they will make plenty of scratch by over-charging for tickets and t-shirts.

newbreedbrian - 1-30-2007 at 03:12 PM

never heard of them. he sounds like a douche.

Discipline - 1-30-2007 at 03:24 PM

Voodoobillyman - 1-30-2007 at 03:48 PM

I hope his ass is accosted by a bunch of pressing plant workers in a dark parking lot sometime.

Ive heard that they created the band for the sole purpose of cashing in and they have no problem admitting it.

they will still sell a ton so he should shut the fuck up. everyone's albums leak these days. and if it doesn't leak early, it'll be up for free online after the first day of release.

crazyfists28 - 1-30-2007 at 06:50 PM

Jason the Magnificent - 1-30-2007 at 09:03 PM

You should have been witness him and his friends in their vegan warrior phase on the old chicago messageboard.

In retrospect...at least it was interesting on that thing back then...

thedog - 1-31-2007 at 12:22 AM

he should be thankful that anyone gives a fuck about his terrible band anyway.

thtas funny dude, that means he just belittled your source of income in his self centerted statement. In a perfect world, he would be destroyed professionally for saying such a thing. Too many morons buying music made by other morons

CR83 - 1-31-2007 at 12:22 PM

I would find "interesting" if the pressing plat folks decided tos cratch all of the cd's printed. Too bad the consumer would be the one who'd be on the out.

DaveMoral - 1-31-2007 at 01:21 PM

The only stand up guy in the entire band is their drummer Andy.

Unbound - 1-31-2007 at 06:37 PM

You want to see how bad the band truly is check out a live video of the band. They are truly horrendous live. It just proves that the studio can work wonders for bands. I don't mind them to be honest but I've always had a soft spot for pop/punk or whatever the hell you want to call it. They do suck live though and that bass player is a complete douche bag. They'll still be raking in cash by the truckload when the album comes out.
