Ipods and cell phones to be banned in NYC?

A bill is proposed that would ban the use of cell phones and Ipods by pedestrians while crossing the street. What a GREAT fucking idea. This will go over like a wet fart.

This is just a small article. I think there are longer ones elsewhere with more quotes from the senator proposing the bill, but I don't have time to search right now. Maybe later.

State Senator Carl Kruger of Brooklyn says he will introduce a measure making it illegal to use electronic devices, such as iPods and cell phones, when crossing the street.

The ban would include the use of cell phones, iPods, MP3 players, Gameboys, and BlackBerrys.

If the measure passes, anyone caught crossing the street while using an electronic device would be fined $100 and would have to appear in court to answer the summons.

Kruger says the deaths of two pedestrians in his district in the last five months led him to introduce the bill.

People are too stupid to use these gadgets and pay attention to their surroundings, they end up dead so clearly the gadgets are the problem. Not the stupid people.

Same thing with that kid writing graf on the train overpass who got hit by a train. They blamed the MTA for not having adequate fencing. No mention of the fact that the kid was doing something stupid, dangerous and illegal.

I vote for survival of the fittest. The world would be smarter for it.

I'm not from New York but I've been there several times and the first thing you realize is to pay fuckin attention when crossing a street. The first time you almost get killed by a cab driver you never forget the lesson. Fuck these retards that get hit becuase they're on their cell phone...run their ass over.

I actually look both ways when crossing a one way street around here because you just never know. A coworker and I seriously almost got run over one day while we were walking on the fucking SIDEWALK. Some van came barreling over the curb right towards us. Most drivers around here are total assholes.

atlantic ave in brooklyn is a bitch. people seriously do 60+ down that street. the last year i lived in brooklyn, there were three incidents where vehicles crashed into buildings at the corner of atlantic and hoyt. sadly, in one, and old man who was sitting in front of the bodega was killed.

Yeah, as much as I hate idiots that don't by attention while walking I really HATE the fucking idiots driving that don't follow the NO TURN ON RED signs or people that are too busy talking on their phones DRIVING. Atleast the person walking will get themselves killed because of their stupidity unlike retard fucking drivers who kill others and come out without a bruise,
