Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

I just fired one of my best friends

CR83 - 2-9-2007 at 11:16 AM

No kidding. Totally sucks. I have tried everything I could to keep her with our company but the account she was working on just went away. They were bought and everything has changed.

Two parts that really sucked is that I had to do it over the phone and second, she just lost it when I told her.

She is one of my favorite people I have ever known. Just totally sucks.

One thing that I learned and stuck with, is that I was honest the whole time. Didn't mislead her and I let her know how good of a person she is and I am going to help her find a new job.

What a bummer

my mom has a couple friends that report to her and she's had to talk about their shitty performance with them before. She also had to tell one of them that she stunk real fuckin bad and needed to take showers more often and clean her clothes. She said it really sucked balls.

Yeah, that shit is tough. My friend I mentioned above worked in another office then me and we got to be real close the past few years.

It is hard because I really like the people I manage. They are all good people. It is hard to draw the line of Manager vs. Freind. The bottom line is a healthy respect for each other.

did she see this commin' or was it a total surprise?

i fired this dude once and he TOTALLY started freaking out. he started yelling and screaming "oh god, no!! why??!!" and slammed his head down on the conference table. no shit.

On my last day working for McDonalds my boss came out to the parking lot to say goodbye to me. I was blasting "Take This Job and Shove It" by Dead Kennedy's as I drove away.

I had to can friends of mine twice. Didn't feel bad about either one.

One guy used to fight with his gf on the phone all the time and I warned him about it, the whole damn office could hear it. Combine that with all the mistakes he would make doing data entry into our database and he really did it to himself.

The other guy lived 2 blocks away from the store yet showed up an average of an hour and a half late every day. He would open the store on Sundays 2 hours late. I was in a band with him at the time too and I didn't give a shit, he HAD to go. He took it well, we even ended up making a skit out of it for the record we recorded but never ended up putting out.
