Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

I'm going to Las Vegas...anybody here ever been there ?

Spoiler - 2-10-2007 at 03:32 PM

me and a friend of mine are going on March 12th.I can't wait to tie one on in sin city. Here's the hotel we'll be staying at
The Stratospheare
The rides at the top of that tower are gonna be crazy,I'm not sure if I have the balls to ride THE BIG SHOT or Insanity - The Ride or X Scream
over 1000 feet in the fucking air.

Anybody ever been ? any suggestions on places to visit ?

The Stratosphere literaly terrified me. They take a picture of you as you're shooting up. There is a look of absolute horror on my face in that picture.

I fucking hate that picture.

If you take any advice at all, it's this...........go downtown and spend as much time as possible there. the strip is fun, but downtown is where it's at for our kind. I stayed at treasure Island, the pirate show in the front is cool. As far as the strip, check out Madame Tousads (sp?) wax museum located at the Venetian. Lot's of shit to do anywhere you go. Have fun bro!

I second downtown. The strip is Disneyworld, downtown is like a drunken streetfair. Prices are representative of both.

Just dont stay at the Goldne Gate ever its a rathole.

i've been there quite a few times. one of my best friends lives there, so when i was commuting from nyc to sf, i used to line up layovers there. the flight would get in at like 11, i'd work out a hold over, gamble alll night, then take the first flight in the morning.

made a few other trips there specifically over the years. stayed at new york, ny with 18 friends for five days for my bachelor party. THAT was off the hook. also stayed at the Golden Nugget downtown, and Treasure Island on the strip. The Statosphere is right in the middle, so you can go either way. just don't try to walk downtown from there! Downtown is certainly more...traditional, and far less expensive. The strip is worth checking out, but everything is expensive. Watch out for scams and pick pockets.

- The pirate show at TI is cool.
- You kinda gotta check out the Belagio cause it's just so high end.
- Binion's Horseshoe has $2 craps tables that I managed to play at for four hours with just $25. (the free drinks cost 'em more that that!)
- Ride every roller coaster... NY, NY, Startosphere x2, the NASCAR casino, etc.
- World's Largest Gift Shop
- If you have time, the Hoover Dam
- and most importantly, are you paying attention Spoiler... The Palomino Club. Write that shit down.

I printed all this out...I'll try to check it all out,but I think I'm gonna pass on the Hoover Dam,that will cut too deep into my drinking and gambling time.
Is the Hard rock casino worth visiting ?

isn't the Bunny Ranch out there somewhere ?

Thanks for all the tips guys.

Also if youre downtown and a lover of beers check out the "chicago" brewery in four queens, their weiss is amazing...but know that the "chicago style pizza" is almost neither of those two words....but edible if your hammered.

also main st station around the corner from it has some great microbrews too.

haha edited again....also if you're a glutton....the buffet at Aladdin, which I think changed to Planet Hollywood...but maybe not yet....is fucking AMAZING. Bellagio's is supposed to top it, haven't tried yet but will this trip.

I'm actually going to be there the week of April 20th, I'm getting hitched and doing it Vegas style. We're staying at the Luxor though which is at the far south more expensive/pretty people end of the strip.

Jason the Magnificent - 2-11-2007 at 11:48 AM

The stratosphere has one of the coolers sports books on the strip too, even if you're not gambling on games, lots of screens and a nice chill layout.

BDx13 - 2-11-2007 at 12:03 PM

the hard rock is definitely worth checking out. probably the spot for people our age. there's the palm, too, but my impression of that place is that everyone is full of themselves. both are just off of the strip.

i'm not a sports gambler, but i too have heard good things about the stratosphere's sports book.

bunny ranch is in carson city, which is like 500 miles from vegas.

spoiler... seriously.
