This is something I helped a friend with over the course of 2 years.
It is a 1966 GMC Pick up. 305 V6 (yes a V6, a very big one) with a 3 speed manual.
It was a complete frame off restoration fromt he ground up.
It was done for a family member of this friend of mine. He is an 84 year old man, and the truck originally belonged to him, however he had thought it
had gone to the crusher years ago. It had been sitting in an old barn on his son's properyt for the last 15 years or so. This was a big surprise for
him.
Many of the original body panels had to be replaced as you could imagine, but after all was said and done it looked better then it did when it left
the assembly line.
I know theres a couple car guys on here so here you go.
The pic does no justice, as I never got to take any pics of the finished. This is of the xmas card theysent out of it with the guys granchildren on
it.

frame off from the ground up huh?? Mucho impressive my friend, mucho impressive. How did the floor panels and bed look? Did you swap out the tranny
and drive shaft as well? did you have to replace any glass? I think replacing glass is the hardest with some of these older resto's. Very nice work

the floor pans were not all that bad but the rocker pannels were shot to hell.
the floor of the bed needed to be replaced completley.
the trans was fine. in fact before the thing was parked, a complete tune up was done.
It started on the first try but smoked quite a bit.
the drive shaft was ok
all I can say is they dont make them like they used to
i did allot of grunt work on it. the guy i am friends with, Paulie, another older frienf, he is 50, has been doing this kind of work since he was a
teenager. all in all i learned tons from this.
the old guy was shocked and amazed. he sat around with the family and swapped old stories about the truck and stuff.
it took 2.5 years and close to $20K.
the owners son provided all the necessary funds.
Some of the glass was replaced, but Paul knows a guy that did it for him. Luckily he also has connections to a couple professional body guys as well
as a paint guy who had the cab acid dipped.
the ma he rents his garage off of is a retired apolsterer (spelling) and he did the bench seat.
here are some bad pics of his garage. the place is a mess
under the one cover is a 63 falcon that has a gutted interior and is set up for a small block v8 and auto trans with mini tubs and a reinforced
suspension
the other is a 64 ford F100 that has a bunch of custom mods. in the middle on the engine stand is a 302 out of a 70 galaxy that is good for 350hp.

thats awesome man, I'm looking at a 65 Thunderbird right now with a 390 dual exhaust auto tranny. Body and interior are in good shape, some rust in
the floor panels but the guy fiberglassed em, solid as a rock. Only thing wrong as far as I can tell is the speedometer and gas guage don;t work, I
think it's just a bad wire thing. Maybe a missed ground or something. Guy wants 3500.00 OBO. I'm seriously considering this.

guages would be an easy fix, plus that is a powerful friggin motor for a small car. that thing would really hook up
