Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Movies that make dudes cry

Voodoobillyman - 3-16-2007 at 10:25 AM

I saw this list just now on another website of the top ten movies that make men cry. I agreed and will admit I sprung tears for a few on the list, but then a few were like what? So, who here wants to admit they showed their "softer" side during any films and what films would it be.

The ones that come to mind first are Saving private Ryan, Forest Gump, Casualties of war, Platoon, we were soldiers, backdraft, ladder 49..............alot of war/firefighter/heroic cop type flicks. I am a sucker for that kind of storyline, especially if it is historically based.

:( Mine is pretty embarassing.... I've always had a real softspot for mentally challanged people and when I saw 'The Other Sister' I teared up. I dont remember what part or why, but I did and I'll admit it. I think there might have almost been some misting during 'I Am Sam' too.

nothin embarrasing about that bro, but I will tell you, I have worked pretty extensively with mentally challenged folks through special olympics and a hospital I volunteer with and those people are, for the most part way more aware of whats going on then people usually give them credit for. It's funny to watch them manipulate people sometimes using their "handicap" If you ever watch the ringer with Johnny Knoxville, it's actually alot more like that than people think. I too have a soft spot for things like this though I can't remember misting up during any flicks involving this issue, I'm sure I have, I'm a big softy when it comes to movies, my wife is always making fun of me.

I found Ladder 49 to be a tear jerker too.
I know there's others too but can't think of any at the moment.

I cried at how terrible Oceans 12 was.....

When I saw Return of the King some guy was sobbing out loud out of joy during the hobbit gay love finale. It was a very emotional moment for all of us.

Not to try and sound like a macho tough guy, but I can't really think of any movies that do that fer me.

JawnDiablo - 3-16-2007 at 03:46 PM

DaveMoral - 3-16-2007 at 04:54 PM

Michael Collins, Star Wars Return of the Jedi when Yoda dies... my favorite muppet ever. A movie called "The Message" about Prophet Muhammad, I cried the first time they made the call to prayer from the top of their freshly built mosque. The call to prayer is probably one of the most beautiful "songs" I ever have and ever will hear... the Qur'an being the only thing to top it. Honestly.

moforn - 3-16-2007 at 07:28 PM

That episode of the Simpsons where Maude dies

Spoiler - 3-16-2007 at 09:32 PM

"Pay it forward" fuckin chokes me up every time I watch it,I'm getting misty eyed just thinking about the ending.
"we were soldiers" is another one, what a great movie that is.
I'm sure there's more,just can't think right now....I love a good drama.
