TMNT-The Original Flicks

stateofdisgrace - 3-26-2007 at 09:44 AM

I watched TMNT III with my daughter the other day. it was on cable. I love when Vaniaal ice does that Ninja, Ninja Rap thing.....hysterical.

We rented II and are gonna watch it tonight before bed.

Anyone see the new one? if so comments?

JawnDiablo - 3-26-2007 at 09:46 AM

I will be seeing that new one this saturday.
I saw the first original with my little brother when i was a kid.

XHonusWagnerX - 3-26-2007 at 09:52 AM

The first TMNT movie was great. It had some jokes, but was more serious that the sequals. I havent seen the new one yet, but I will probably wait for the DVD.

The one with Vanilla Ice is actually the third movie it's the second one The Secret of the Oooze. My personal favorite actually. The third one is the one in ancient china, which is also pretty good but my least favorite of the series.

The new movie is pretty cool, has a lot of action and an interesting look. I think the humans might look a bit too much like the incredibles, but that is only a small complaint. Other than that it is a pretty kick ass movie.

stateofdisgrace - 3-26-2007 at 10:17 AM

my bad. I typed it incorrectly. We rented the third, watched the second......

I hate Roman numerals......

defstarsteve - 3-26-2007 at 11:12 AM

I watched part of the 3rd with my son about a month ago....
and bam
he became a ninja turtle that day
we have watched all 3 of them over and over and a lot of the cartoons
bought a ton of the toys
it currently ties star wars for most popular movie with him, which to a 3 year old is a big deal

we will be seeing the new one this week
he wants to bring his toys and play along with the movie...

DaveMoral - 3-26-2007 at 09:23 PM

Awesome! I can't wait to get my kid into TMNT, Transformers and Star Wars.

I love the first TMNT to this day. Second one is still pretty good, with the exception of the mutated Shredder at the end, but the new chick they had play April is way cuter than the old one. Plus the pizza boy is the guy that was in the Donatello get up in the first one. Ernie Reyes Jr. This is the stuff that got me into martial arts. Third was was alright, but I think you could tell their budget for the animatronics was getting lower.

Looking forward to getting my butt out to see the new one for sure.

ENDERA.x - 3-26-2007 at 10:25 PM

I dont want to see the new one...

its gonna ruin it. The old ones were bomb!

First of all, the new one has dominated the box office. Secondly, nintendo nerd is right on!

JawnDiablo - 3-27-2007 at 05:59 PM

I'm going to see it with my son on Saturday.
I love the Ps2 TMNT game

Go, Ninja! Go, Ninja!

I dug the first movie, but don't think I ever saw the other ones. I was really into the original comics (and even played the role playing game for YEARS), so I liked the movie more than the cartoon because it was a little grittier like the comic. The comic was really dark and brutal with some humor, not the geared-towards-kids vehicle that the cartoon was. I heard that this new movie was going to be like the comic but I can see that it isn't at all. But that's ok, it looks cool. My son is dying to see it so we're going to hit the theater soon.

Now he keeps asking me when the GI Joe movie is coming out. I wish there WAS one! A live action one, I mean...

It won't be long coming I think, Transformers comes out soon, the adds look very cool

DaveMoral - 3-28-2007 at 06:20 PM

Yep, nothing like a live action flick to revive the shit out of a Hasbro toyline. GI Joe and Transformers were built around the toys, I'd imagine we'd eventually end up with a GI Joe/Transformers movie together or something. That would be interesting.

xcadmusx - 3-28-2007 at 06:52 PM

If they made a GI Joe movie, I would really hope that it would be like the comic and not the cartoon. I was never a fan of the GI Joe / Transformers crossover comics (and they did a new one recently), so I hope that doesn't happen. If they made a movie based along the storylines of the comic, GI Joe would be a really badass flick!

I tried to get down with the new turtles but I just can't. The late 80's early 90's were the best. The storyline has changed too much for my liking since Artisan who owned the original TMNT sold it over to Mirage Studios.

Dude... it's more like the original Turtles than ever, from 1983 big parody of Frank Miller's Ronin and his run on Daredevil. Seriously, the Daredevil fought a ninja group called the Hand... Eastman and Laird made the Foot.

The current cartoon has run episodes based entirely upon comics that I bought back in the late 80s early 90s by those guys. See, there were two sides to the turtles for years... the original bloody turtles slaughter foot ninja blowing Shredder up with a grenade turtles... and Saturday morning breakfast cereal turtles. The current stuff is a pretty good mix of both in my opinion.

And Mirage has always owned TMNT, that was the DIY studio that Eastman and Laird started to publish the original comics. You should check out the website to see the origins of it all NinjaTurtles.com

Yeah I've been to that site before and what I should've said I liked the cartoons they aired back in the early 90's a lot more than the new turtles. I know that in the orginal comics April wasn't a reporter but an assistant to Baxter and Splinter wasn't a man, which they changed now etc,. I just like the old turtles, the new turtles look fucking retarded and their voices are horrible.

I don't know, I like the look now... it reminds me of the comic adaptation on the first movie AND that was by the guys that were doing the TMNT Mirage comics at the time.

Frankly I find that I like them better with all the same red mask on and shit. I grew up and got into them with the old cartoon but damn... I seriously can't stand that stuff anymore. Same deal with Thundercats... that cartoon was top notch when I was a kid, I watched it not too long ago and man does it suck.

stateofdisgrace - 3-30-2007 at 10:39 AM

Weird thing to have on just for no apparent reason.

Agreed. That's why I posted it.

DaveMoral - 3-30-2007 at 09:23 PM

I just went to see this thing this afternoon, I enjoyed it and the ending leaves it completely open for a sequel with a familiar villan. There's also a part there in the end that makes it pretty obvious they are intending this one to be a sequel to the movies from the early 90's.

JawnDiablo - 3-31-2007 at 05:51 PM

I just got back from seeing it.
I liked it allot
so did my son.
it does indeed leave room for another one.
the animation was cool
