Violence at Shows

MyOwnWay - 2-21-2005 at 12:54 AM

Ok. This should be discussed. I just heard about an incident on Long Island a few months ago. This "crew" put a metalcore band member thru the window of the venue. I'd like to get everyones opinion on violence at shows.

Myself, I dont think think there is a "show etiquette" but I do believe in a certain respect for others and responsibility people should take for themselves. And until recently I've never heard of something so fucking stupid as beating on the talent thats playing that night.

Whats your opinion?

"put a metalcore band member thru the window of the venue"

that sounds really funny but, really it's not... now if it was an emo kid!

"stupid as beating on the talent thats playing that night. "
i've never heard anything like that

all i can say, the amount of fucke dup stories i hear from across the u.s. is enough to deterr me from thinking highly of the u.s. shows almost... depends where

fuckin americans are FUCKED UP and yall know it lol

violence at shows, basically, theres always gonna be an element of violence.
so, to try not to be a victim of it make sure you can hold your own i guess, thats all that can be said, just be careful and realize that there are a lot of fuckin retarded people around...
i dont really know waht to say here its late.. nite

Eh, it was a member of a metalcore band, you said? I think they got off easy then. All those bands need to be bludgeoned on a regular basis.

I'm just kidding........

......or am I?

VIOLENCE AT SHOWS IS STUPID.
Its always some jock moshing idiot or som BRO starting shit that requires a beatdown.
So in a way its deserved, but it still sucks to have to strong arm people out the door for being stupid.

If someone needs their ass kicked and DESERVES it, then I'm all for it. As much as I dont believe in 'scene police' ... someones gotta keep shit in line. My home scene has lost countless venues due to drunk idiots turning up to AA shows and throwing something at neighbouring house, or causing some sort of ruckus to the point where neighbours complain to the council or police.

Unessecary violence can eat a dick though. I saw too much of it while I was in the US. I almost got beatup for stage diving a a terror show!! When vogel says jump, I say how high. I shouldnt get beat up for it.

SAAAAARS - 2-21-2005 at 01:42 PM

i've never really seen a violence problem in my area. theres always dudes metal moshing but its only at shows where that can be expected. most of the time, dudes are still pretty respectful.

kids are always looking to start fights when they're at shows.... if you ignore them, they don't do anything.

as far as im concerned, people should be allowed to dance how they want and do what they want (not metal mosh though at a hardcore show, that dont fly)

gettin like, beat up because you stage dived on someones head hahaa thats pussy
anyone who gets all pissy because someone hit them is a fucken loser i dont give a shit, especially you see if the hit wasnt intentional.. its gonna happen and its their fault for standing there (in most cases) geez.. people need to fuck off

Big Ugly - 2-21-2005 at 02:31 PM

I've got no problem with people dancing hard and swinging their arms around. If I get hit, I get hit. No big deal. If you're up front dancing you have to expect that you might get hit and somebody might bounce off your head. I find if their is any violence at a show it's usually because somebody who's new to hardcore dancing got hit and took it personally. Some people don't realize that if you're gonna be up front you might get hit. Shit happens, get over it and keep dancing.

I'm sorry for that last drunk post.

Im small. I dont mess with people and they dont seem to mess with me. There's only been a few times where someone was trying to start something with me randomly. I just ignored it and the dude just moved on. I'd rather not get into a fight because 1) I will probably lose 2) I have to be an adult 9-5, and coming in to work with a black eye wont fly.

I havent really seen much fighting at pretty much any show Ive been to. Im a pacifist of sorts, so maybe Ive got a calming affect or something. I dont know.

hahahah oh yes thats it.

MyOwnWay - 2-22-2005 at 11:41 AM

I've seen shit hit the fan (so to speak) but not like I've been hearing about lately. Thats just wrong.

I say we get a group of us and head to CT and smash some faces!

I'm kiddin, be nice.

MacSteff - 2-22-2005 at 05:50 PM

i was at a hatebreed show in CT and got grabbed from behind by my pony tail and stomped on by like 5 scenester girls. they didn't recognize me as "cool" right away. when they realized "who i was" they felt bad. that shit is lame.

ENDERA.x - 2-22-2005 at 05:52 PM
