Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

New Nekromantix!!!!!

Voodoobillyman - 4-2-2007 at 11:01 AM

For anyone interested, it comes out this Wednesday, it's called "Life is a Grave and I dig it". Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, I have done some cool shit with the ol wheels as of late and I wanted to let those of you interested in on it. I have beaded my own shrunken head with skull beads and thread to hang from my rearview (Big Daddy Roth style) and have mounted two chrome skulls to the hood as ornaments, I also, much to my wifes dismay, planted a Blood for Blood sticker on the back window. She says you don't put stickers on a car like this, my argument....but honey, it's Blood for Blood! She dosen't get it. Now that the engine is replanted and all the little nooks and crannies back together, we are going to check the timing to make sure it's good and then blast off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait to get this album. They had a pre-order available at Interpunk that came with an autographed slip cover or something. I wanted it but had no money.

I just haven't been able to get into the Nekromantix since they joined Hellcat. Then again, I've been turned off by most Psychobilly that's came out in the past 5 or so years. Want to talk about crazy shit, the "Brought Back To Life" limited lp that Crazy Love put out went for $278 the other day:

I had a spare copy so I threw mine up:

I don't like them nearly enough to spend that kind of money on that . Come to think of it, I don't like any band enough to spend that kind of cash on an album I can get on CD for the standard price. To each their own I guess, and for the record, you are nuts in my opinion, These guys have been doing some real cool shit with Hellcat. All the new psycho bands sprouting up based on the rising popularity in the States is exciting and most are doing some good stuff.

I just can't seem to get into much of the new stuff. Alot of it seems really contrived. The driving my hearse through the graveyard with my voodoo baby type lyrics drive me nuts. I still love the SHARKS, FRANTIC FLINTSTONES, DEMENTED ARE GO, METEORS, LONG TALL TEXANS, LOS GATOS LOCOS, BARNYARD BALLERS and a few other random bands but I just got really burned out on most of the new stuff. I'm sure there are some good bands out there but I just haven't had the motivation to even look. I don't mind that these bands are getting bigger. People like Kim Nekroman have been going at it for a long time and deserve their due. I love all their releases from Hellbound to Demons Are A Girls Best Friend but just couldn't get into Return Of The Loving Dead. Just seemed goofy. It just seems like something is lacking these days but what do I know? I'm just a grumpy motherfucker.

Voodoobillyman - 4-5-2007 at 03:13 PM

I can see the whole burned out thing, the lyrical content can get repetetive at times and alot of it is just rehashing. All of the bands you just named are of course the forfathers of this particular sound and deserve their due accordingly. I haven't gotten sick of the voodoo baby type lyrics yet, but my first true love is spook surf and since I see your from SD I will say Deadbolt is my all time favorite band EVER. Dig it

Voodoobillyman - 4-5-2007 at 03:18 PM

try a few of these for a semi fresh spin on the sound and or lyrics:

Demon City Wreckers (RIP)
Pagan Dead
Sasquatch and the Sickabillys
Koffin Kats (not very original, but one of the best modern psycho acts)

Discipline - 4-5-2007 at 03:36 PM

I gotta go with The Matadors as my favorite current psycho, but Koffin Kats are fucking great.

Voodoobillyman, not to be a name dropping homo but I used to roadie for the 'bolt. Harley is one of the most hilarious mofo's I know. Great guys, they just played here last Saturday. Alot of my buddies from Colorado have the Shrunken Head tattooed on their necks. Deadbolt actually did a song about them on the last album.

Voodoobillyman - 4-5-2007 at 08:21 PM

Thats rad bro! I have a Deadbolt tattoo on my left arm, only band I have a tattoo for. I love those dudes! Which song is the one about your buddies? I should have killed you rules!!!!!!!!!

Helldorado. Great band & great guys but some people just don't get it.

Voodoobillyman - 4-7-2007 at 10:29 AM

My favorite all time tune is a hit gone wrong, that song is so fucking good. " I tell ya, this ones for Albert!" Actually, Tiajuana hit squad is my favorite overall album by them. It's the theme that resonates with me the most out of all their conceptual albums. Man it's cool to talk Deadbolt with someone who's into them and more, you lucky bastard. So.......maybe you can answer the one question that everybody always has, what really happend to Les Vegas?
