I missed it this weekend but will be seeing this next weekend.

I just got back from seeing it and I am super impressed. Planet Terror had Italian splatter written all over it. The splinter in the eye was a total homage to Zombie. The gore was amazing and almost non stop. Death Proof was a bit slow at the beginning but turned into a total 70's car chase flick towards the end. The girl on the hood of the car was insane. The fake trailers were definitely cool. Totally captured the spirit of 70's exploitation movies. This totally makes me want to dig through my vhs collection and watch all of the flicks I have that have been collecting dust. Seems like a good a time as ever to dig out SS Girls or She Devils of the SS.

upyerbum - 4-8-2007 at 10:24 AM

Ilsa She-Wolf of the SS is another fine classic.

DaveMoral - 4-8-2007 at 05:08 PM

I read somewhere that one of the fake trailers is going to be made into a straight to DVD feature...

JawnDiablo - 4-8-2007 at 08:02 PM

MAchette is going to be a straight to DVD release....

tireironsaint - 4-9-2007 at 12:17 AM

Fucking fantastic. I was blown away. I thought this would be two throw away movies with some good gore and dialogue, but it had me floored from the Machete trailer on. If that's true that Machete is going to come out on DVD I'll be snatching that up ASAP. As far as the two movies contained in Grindhouse, I was surprised by the actual effort put forth in both of these. The way they talked up the whole aspect of recreating the crappily made low budget 70's films made me expect a lot less than what was shown. I really expected Tarantino's flick to be more on the low budget tip, but Rodriguez really took over that end of things.

Also, the first half of Death Proof, where it's all in Austin, made me so homesick. Those are all real places they have them hanging out in and they even drive by the original Alamo Drafthouse, which is the best theater ever.

I'm probably gonna catch this again later this week and will definitely pick it up on DVD when it comes out. I'm hoping for lots of bonus features too.
