I watched a couple shows, it was good only because I'm obsessed with OC type stuff...but in reality it was kinda corny/unbelieveable. It was like Diet Sopranos/Wire/Brotherhood etc etc.

As far as I'm concerned network TV should stick with what they know. Happy go lucky redundant sit-coms and paint by numbers cop/doctor shows...and leave more 'realistic' type shows to networks like Showtime and HBO who's censorship practices have advanced past 'Leave it to Beaver' era puritanical Americana.

maybe another channel will pick it up

I've never seen this show or heard of it until everyone here started talking about it but I'll have to agree that this kind of shit should be left to the premium networks. The only non-HBO/Showtime drama I watch is The Shield on FX, they get away with everything except the F word and straight on titty shots.

clevohardcore - 4-10-2007 at 02:08 PM

I thought it sucked anyway.

BKT - 4-10-2007 at 02:14 PM

ya I dont see what the big attraction to this show was. Ya it is better than most of the other shit on TV, but what the hell is that saying? It was ok at best, no big loss here.

MM.

Dave - 4-10-2007 at 03:57 PM

well......that just sucks some nuts doesn't it.

defstarsteve - 4-10-2007 at 06:10 PM

it was good but would have been better on cable
so hopefully someone else will pick it up

DaveMoral - 4-10-2007 at 06:28 PM

Goddamn it. Seems like all my TV watching is done on network websites now...

i hate most television
it was cool
i like silly irish stuff
oh
werent we talking about hooligan stuff a while ago?
what were those movies reccommended?
I rented Hooligan, and liked it.

clevohardcore - 4-11-2007 at 03:34 AM

I twas good idea but the acting and stories were not executed well.

BKT - 4-11-2007 at 11:06 AM

Football factory and Green St. Hooligians are pretty good. I enjoyed them both.

MM.

upyerbum - 4-11-2007 at 11:10 AM

The story of the real Black Donnellys is far better anyway. They were fuckin' crazy.

JawnDiablo - 4-11-2007 at 11:10 AM

green street hooligans...thats the one i saw.
that was good.

Voodoobillyman - 4-11-2007 at 12:26 PM

Didn't someone mention a book called paddy whacked? I just picked it up at Borders on sale, it looks real good, it covers the history of the Irish Mob.

Jason the Magnificent - 4-11-2007 at 12:56 PM

It's a very good book, but a heavy read...very academic. It was written by T.J. English who wrote 'The Westies' which is a GREAT book.

The recent southie books are good reads too though. 'Brutal' is Kevin Week's telling his side of the whole Whitey Bulger thing, but I kind of liked 'A Criminal and an Irishman' by Patric Nee a bit more...it didn't go as heavily into the 'goodfellas-esqe' side of things like Weeks did but it was kinda humorous how he made Whitey seem like a total punk with a lot of convenient connections.
